CHAPTER -II

Part – A 1.0 GEOLOGY & EXPLORATION

1. (a) Briefly described the topography, drainage pattern, vegetation, and climate and

rainfall data of the area applied / mining lease area.

Topography and drainage pattern: The Applied Lease area under Mining lease is part

of the Middy hillock. In the Surface in thin layer of Soil Present in total applied area. The

highest assumed RL in the area is 207m and lowest RL is 205m. Total relief of the area

about 2.0mRL of the pillars have been marked in respective plates. The slope of the area

is central part of applied lease area to North direction. There is no prominent nallah

flowing in the area. The rainwater flows down toward the slope of the area and flows

into nearby fields outside the lease area. There is no public road passing through the

area.

No physiographic features are prevailing in and outside the lease area, within 500m.

Some vegetation of vilayati and desi babool trees are scattered in and around of the

area. The ground water level is moderate depth with average depth of 80-90m. Below

the surface and the quality of water is not a potable. The common flora consists in and

around the area of Babool, Neem and Cactus & thorny bushes. No forest area falls within

the M.L. area, not a part of area is under cultivation. All the major physiographic and

surface features are marked on the surface plan on plate No.3.

Vegetation: - Vegetation in the form of shrubs, bushes and grasses are grown in the

area. In the area surrounding the ML, there are no forests. Ten trees are exist within the

lease area. The only vegetation seen in parts of the ML and the land surrounding it are

covered with thorny shrubs bushes and cactus & plantation work carried out by lessee.

In general the growth of vegetation is poor in the area. Only wild vegetation, which

includes Kair, Khejdi, Jal, Vilayati Babool and shrubs with thorny bushes are found

around lease area. The only type of wild life seen in the nearby area is rabbits, and

varieties of lizards, mongoose and snakes.

Climate and rainfall:- The average annual rainfall of the year ranges between 150 mm

to 250 mm. Desertic climate with large variation of temperature and scanty rainfall are

the main characteristics of the climate of area. The area experience temperature

variation of 400 to 440 in summer and 100 to 40 in winter season. Strong wind blows

during the summer seasons.

(b). REGIONAL GEOLOGY:

The Regional Geology of the district is obscured by extensive desert sand & sand of

dunes. The rock formations are mostly exposed in patches. The general stereographic

succession worked out by Geological survey of India is as under:

Middle Paleocene to upper cretaceous.

Sandstone.

Lathi formation Triassic – Jueassic sandstone. Malani igneoues rock

Lateprecambrian Rhyolite granites & associated intrusives .

These area belong to malani igneous rock. Malani igneous rock represents a widespread

acid volcanism at the waning phase of Proterozoic in the western parts of Rajasthan.

Malani Igneous Suite includes extrusive volcanic outpourings as well as plutonic

intrusions that took place in several phases. They overlie the Proterozoic metamorphics

of the Delhi Super-group and underlie the Jodhpur Group of rocks of Marwar Super

Group. The extrusive phase (745 m.y) comprise of tuffs, welded tuffs, rhyolites, rhyolite

porphyry, and mafics; while the intrusives (600 my) are represented by Siwana and

Jalore granites with associated dykes. In the study area these igneous rocks are best

exposed in the southern and south western parts around Jodhpur, Banner, Balotra,

Jhalore and Siwana as hills and inselbergs. Chawade and Chandrasekaran (1996)

reported a pre -Malani (post Delhi) anorthositic phase.

The detailed study of area was done to assess the mineral quantum in the lease area. The studies include Geological Mapping, Topographical Survey and Geological Traversing. Detailed geological mapping of the lease area of 1.00 Hectare was carried out on a scale of 1:1000. Topographical survey of the lease area was simultaneously done. Contour interval was taken as 5m. Mineralized bodies have been marked. The Surface Geological Plan is enclosed as Plate No. 4 along with this report. (c).Local Geology :- From the above sequence of formation the applied area , Rhyolite

belong to Malani Igneous Suite, in this are Rhyolite in the major litho logical unit

exposed in the area.

Masonary stone as rhyolite rock is defined as plutonic dark and acidic and basic

igeneous rock. They are the commonest types of igneous rocks. The rock belongs to

Malani suite of Igneous of Post Delhi of Late pre-cambrian age.

The following succession has been noticed in area

Age Lateprecambrian

MALANI IGNEOUS SUITE (Plutonic and volcanic)

Rhyolite of the area is brownish colored, medium grained in texture and Rhyolite of the

area is highly fractured and jointed in nature and suitable for masonary stone

Composition: The most common mineralogical constituents of the rhyolite are

feldspars Hornblende & Quartz. In fine grained or glassy mass porpharitic Feldspar

seen, is of two types the Alkali Feldspar and Soda Feldsapar.

Texture Rhyolite is medium grained in texture. Rhyolite of the area is highly fractured

and jointed in nature. The entire rock mass is joined. There are two different sets of

joint running perpendicular to each other dividing the massive rock mass into blocky

formation.

Occurrence : The Rhyolite (masonary Stone) occurs chiefly as shallow depth intrusion.

Colour: The colour of Masonary Stone is Black and Dark Brown.

Origin: The origin of the Masonary Stone is magmatic source.

Uses : for masonary Stone, Crusher Stone.

Exploration: It is proposed that few scout bore hole will be put in the ML area to ensure

the continuity of masonary stone.

The detailed study of the area was done to assess the mineral quantum in the lease area.

The studies include Geological Mapping, Topographical Survey and Geological

Traversing.

(d) Name of prospecting Agency

Department of Mines and Geology has done prospecting in the lease area.

(e) Details of Prospecting/ exploration already carried out - Respectively, first exploitation for block ability and further used for mineral exploitation by lessee as shown in explored for block ability and further used for mineral exploitation by lessee as shown in surface plan.

(f). The surface plan of the lease area has been prepared on scale 1:1000 with contour

interval 1.0m plate no. 3.

(g) The surface geological plan has on scale 1:1000 with contour interval 1.0m showing is

geological features as shown in plate 4.

Detailed geological mapping of the Applied lease area of 1.0hect. was carried out on a

scale of 1:1000. Topographical survey of the lease area was simultaneously done.

Contour interval was taken as 1.0m. Mineralised bodies have been marked. The

Geological Plan is enclosed as Plate No.4 along with this report.

(h) The geological section has been prepared on scale 1:1000.

(i)Future Exploration Programme:-

It is proposed that few scout bore hole will be put in the ML area to ensure the

continuity of masonary stone.

(j) Reserves & Resources as per UNFC with respect to the threshold value notified by IBM

may be furnished in a tabular form as given below:

(K). Detailed Calculation of reserves/resources :-

The reserves estimation is done, taking the thickness of exposed masonary stone in the

area and availability nearby working mines into consideration on the basis of

exploration in the nearby areas. Mineral losses are considered in reserve calculation.

After considering weathered rock, boundary barrier, benches, haulage, waste dumps,

crusher unit, office etc, total 0.81 hect. Area is taken for the calculation the reserves. The

volume of the area then multiplied by tonnage factor (Sp. Gravity 2.5). The reserves are

divided in three categories i.e. proved, probable and possible.

Reserve Estimation

a) PROVED RESERVES (as per UNFC Code 111) (refer Plate no. 4)

0.81hect. area is considered to have Masonary Stone for an average thickness of 15.0m

from the exposed surface. Section is drawn to show the proved reserve thickness of

Masonary Stone (Surface Geological Plan, Plate No.4). The entire area having the

Masonary Stone has been multiplied by the average thickness of 10.0m it gives volume

in the cubic meter, and then multiplied by bulk density 2.5 that gives tonnage of the

proved reserves.

b) PROBABLE RESERVE (as per UNFC Code 122) (refer Plate no. 4)

As discussed above, 0.81hect. area having the Masonary Stone is considered to have

Masonary Stone for a proved thickness of 10.0m from exposed surface. Section is

drawn to show the thickness of Masonary Stone bed. The thickness of the probable

reserves is taken 7.0m below the limit of proved reserves. Section is drawn to show the

probable reserve thickness of Masonary Stone bed (Surface Geological Plan, Plate

No.4). The entire area having the exposed Masonary Stone has been multiplied by the

thickness of 7.0m it gives volume in the cubic meter and then multiplied by bulk

density 2.5 that gives tonnage of the probable reserves.

c) POSSIBLE RESERVE (as per UNFC Code 222) (refer Plate no. 4

As discussed above, 0.81hect. area having the Masonary Stone is considered to have

Masonary Stone for a proved thickness of 10.0m from surface and 7.0m of the

probable thickness. The thickness of the possible reserves is taken 5.0m below the

limit of probable reserves. Section is drawn to show the probable reserve thickness of

Masonary Stone bed (Surface Geological Plan, Plate No.4). The entire area having the

exposed Masonary Stone has been multiplied by the average thickness of 5.0m it gives

volume in the cubic meter and then multiplied by bulk density 2.5 that gives tonnage of

the possible reserves.

Anticipated Life of Mine - The mineable reserve is 344250 tones. with present Avg.

target of 56625tons of production per year these reserves will gave a life about 6.07 say

7.0 year.

2.0 Mining

A. OPEN CAST MINING:

a) Briefly describe the existing as well as proposed method for excavation

with all design parameters:-

Existing/Proposed Mining methods: - The proposed method of mining will be

manual “Open Pit” mining. The height of bench will not be kept more than 5.0m at the

time and the width of the benches will be always more than the height done. For the

systematic workings of open pit mines, benching will be done. The main development

work will be the formation of systematic benching. This benching will also give the

desired production of the mineral. The targeted annual production target of Masonary

Stone (Marketable) is about Avg.56625 tonnes next five year. Total Applied area cover

by thin layer of soil so firstly remove soil and stack separately in lease boundary for

future use in plantation.

b) Indicate year wise tentative Excavation in Cubic Meters indicating development,

ROM, pit wise as in table below:-

d) Brief description giving salient feature of the proposed method of working indicating Category of mine :

i). Method of Mining - Proposed method of mining will be opencast semi-mechanized

mining method with bench formation. Mineral can be excavated with help of manual

with periodic blasting.

ii). Bench Parameter – Benches Developing as per Parameter, The height of bench

will not be kept more than 5.0m at the time and the width of the benches will be always

more than the height done. For the systematic workings of open pit mines, benching will

be done. The main development work will be the formation of systematic benching. This

benching will also give the desired production of the mineral.

iii). Bench Height in ORE- The height of bench will not be kept more than 5.0m.

iv). Bench Width- -The width of the benches will be always more than the height

done.

v). Bench Slope - Slope of the benches has been maintained 70-800with the

horizontal.

vi). Over all pit slope - pit slope is to be maintained at an angle of 70º with the

horizontal.

vii). Bottom mRL proposed during Plan period – +175mRL

BLASTING

Small blasting with low charge of holes just to loosen the rocks is proposed in

upper layers to remove the hard overburden. The Blasting shall be done by the

authorized contractors on contractual Basis. These contractors have their own

safety explosive container as well as Explosive License.

Applicant may use Jack Hammer Drilling of 32mm dia Hole or 110mm Hole dia of

wagon drill M/c. The lease shall mine by slice method of each 1.0m, with

jackhammer drilling. Applicant may use deep Hole blasting after getting DGMS

Permission.

Blasting Pattern – The Blasting Pattern entirely depends on the situation of the joint

Presents in the rocks.

Type of explosive and detonator used

Special Gellatin, Delay Detonator, R-cord, Detonating cord will used as per requirement.

Storage of explosive The explosive shall be supplied by the authorized contractor at the

blasting site at the of blasting. The explosive shall be directly used so no storage of

explosive is proposed.

Safety Precautions

1. During handling all care should be taken that no inflammable elements should be

there.

2. Only safety explosive container with explosive license should be used for safe & secure

transportation of explosive.

3. Efficient Siren should be blown prior to the blasting & clearance of blasting.

Precautions

The mining is done on the hilly portion and though there is no human settlement in the

bottom of the hill, special precautions will have to be taken for the fly rock problem. All

the adequate precautions as per provisions MMR 1961 will be taken.

Loading and Transportation

Loading of Masonary Stone Lumps will be done with the help of loader from mineral

stack on truck. The trucks will be used for transportation of Masonary Stone mine site

to destination.

EXTENT OF MECHANIZATION

Initially Excavator & Dumper will be arrange on Hire Basis. Later the lessee will go for own

mechanization

e) Brief description of the layout of mine workings, pit road layout, the Layout of faces and sites for disposal of overburden/waste along with ground preparation prior to disposal of waste, reject etc. A reference to the plans and sections may be given. UPL or ultimate size of the pit is to be shown for identification of the suitable dumping site:

Layout of mine workings – The masonary stone recovery is 95% & 5% mineral reject will

be Produced, which will be not usable as masonary stone. These reject will be treated as

waste dump and it will be separately stack in the lease area as shown in yearwise

working plan. The stack will not be of more than 10 meter height and slope of the stack

will not be more than 30-45 degree.

Parameters- slope angles, bench height, bench width & Ultimate Pit slopes, haul

road &ramps.

Purpose- to recover the maximum mineral deposit

Height of the benches in Mineral: It is 5.0mt height.

Width of the benches in Mineral: More than Height.

Slope of the benches: Slope of the benches has been maintained 60-700with the

horizontal. Presently proposed mining above to surface.

Ultimate Pit slope : Ultimate pit slope is to be maintained at an angle of 60-70º

with the horizontal.

Directions of faces: The pit has been developed along the contours of the area in

all the direction.

Advancement of the faces: The faces had been advanced in depth or vertically

down.

Road & Ramps: All benches have been connected by ramps of gradient 1 in 16.

(f).Conceptual Mine planning up to the end of lease period taking into

consideration the present available reserve and resources describing the

excavation, recovery of ROM, Disposal of waste, backfilling of voids, reclamation

and rehabilitation showing on a plan with few relevant sections.

The conceptual mine plan of the area is prepared refer plate no.-7. The main features of

the plan are as given below:

Proposal of conceptual plan

At the end of the life of mine 344250 tonne of Masonary Stone mineral will be

excavated from the lease area. At the end of the Mining plan period, Masonary Stone will

be 283125MT excavated. During this phase size of pit will be 0.7225 sqm. The

backfilling will be done simultaneously as the excavated pit reached up to the optimum

depth and complete mined out the minerals, after that remaining area will be used as

reservoir and some area use in backfilling. Presently no backfilling, because masonary

stone mining pit not reached optimum depth. The position at the end of life of mine is

shown in plate no. 7 (conceptual Plan).

Land Degradation and reclamation

Total excavated area : 0.7225 Hectares

Area to be converted into water reservoir : 0.4875 Hectares

Rehabilitation

As no personal are expected to be migrated due to mining in the Applied mining lease

area and the adjoining region is also having a good mineral potential, the rehabilitation

of the employees is not to be a problem , the workers and the other staffs can get job in

the neighbouring areas the end of life of mine.

Plantation proposals for next five year

To improve the environment of the area it is proposed to plant 20 trees per year along

the boundary line. During the next five year saplings of local species like Khejri, Babul,

Ber & Neem etc will be planted over an area of 0.050hectare shown in working plan,

plate no. 5 & Environment plan plate no.6. The number of sapling proposed to be

planted during next five year period is furnished below:

About 0.050 hect area will be covered under plantation inside the lease area on boundary

We are considering Maximum Avg. production of 344250 MT of mineral per annum

Anticipated life =mineable (Proved+ Probable) Reserve/Maxi. Production

=344250/56625= 6.0 years.

d) Described regional and local drainage pattern. Also indicate annual rainfall, catchments

area, and likely quantity of rain water to flow through thelease area, arrangement for

arresting solid wash off etc.

There is no firm drainage present in the area, there are no river flowing through the

area. The area is gently sloping. The proposed mining in the next five years will be

above the general ground water level of the area. In the rainy season almost all the

water will flow on the surrounding low-lying agriculture land outside the lease area.

Water will be accumulated in the working pit, which will be pumped out by diesel

pumps. Suitable methods will be adopted for water conservation, so the drainage

system will not be disturbed and choked by filling reject etc. the depth of water table is

80-90m in the nearby well & it is suitable for drinking purpose. The average annual

rainfall of the year ranges between 150 mm to 250 mm.

4.0STACKING OF MINERAL REJECT/SUB GRADE MATERIAL

AND DISPOSAL OF WASTE

a). Indicate briefly the nature and quantity of top soil, overburden/ waste and Mineral Reject to be disposed off.

Top soil - the thin layer of soil is present in total applied area, firstly remove soil and

stack separately in lease boundary for future use in plantation. Location show in Plate

No.5.

Over Burden/Mines waste –

Rejects: the recovery factor has been taken as 95 %. So the reject generated will be 5%

of the total production. In the next five years the amount of rejects generated per year

has been given in the table below. During I to V year the rejects will be dumped in

boundary barrier ‘AB’ up to 10m height as depicted in plate no 3. The generation of the

reject is given in the following table :

5: USE OF MINERAL AND MINERAL REJECT

A). Describe briefly the requirement of end use industry specification in term of physical

& Chemical Composition:-

Physical properties – Masonary stone is a fine grained, dark brown coloured,

volcanic rock. It is tough, moderately resistant to weathering.

Chemical properties - The most common mineralogical constituents of the

Masonary stone are feldspars Olivine basalt are olivine. In fine grained or glassy

mass porpharitic Feldspar seen, is of two types the Alkali Feldspar and Soda

Feldsapar

B) Describe requirement of intermediate industries involved in up-gradation of mineral

before its end use

Masonary stone are commonly used as construction materials such as aggregate in

concrete and asphalt, rock-filling in dams and breakwaters, crushed gravel in railway

ballast and airway foundation.

C) Detail requirement of other industries, captive consumption export etc:-

CHAPTER – 6

PROCESSING OF ROM AND MINERAL REJECT

a) Nature of processing beneficiation:-

The Minerals produced from the mines need only specific sorting & grading for size grade &

recovery factor. No mineral. Impurities will be removed simply by hand picking. Besides this no

other processing or beneficiation is required on proposed at the mine site.

production of mineral, hence water requirement will also be less. Drinking water will be

brought from nearby villages during mining. The water for plantation will be also project from

the accumulation rain water in working pits &nearby villages. Total water requirement in the

mine be about 3.0 to 4.0KLD for drinking, spraying and plantation.

7: MISCELLANEOUS

a). SITE SERVICES

Power supply

Electric power supply line does not exist near the mining lease area the nearby village

are electrified. It is not proposed to connect the mine with power supply connection in

the near future.

Water supply

Water is being supplied from a well near the mine. A small tank is also proposed on the

proposed mine offices premises this can be used for supply of water to mining work,

spraying, watering the plants and drinking purposes.

First aid

Primary first aid facility is proposed at the proposed mine office.

Rest shelter

Temporary rest shelter is proposed.

Latrines and urinal are proposed.

b.) EMPLOYMENT STATUTORY

Technical Persons - The mine owner shall employ mine official (mines manager, mining
