BRAHM WEISMAN

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship will enable me to

conduct research on best practices

 for irrigation management in the

Philippines. It will pay for

accommodation, a research

assistant and travel costs. As I will

be managing water resources in

developingcountries when I

graduate, this

experience is

crucial to my

 future success.

Annie Aftab, PhD (2012)Cell and Developmental Biology

NSERC POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Receiving this

award was a

real confidence

booster; it

affirmed that I

was asking

important

scientific

questions on how cancer invadesthe brain. As a graduate student I

go through many highs and lows,

and receiving an award like this

served as the accelerant I had been

looking for.

CFIS GRADUATE AWARD

My research

looks at brain

 plasticity during

the period of

spontaneous

recovery after

stroke. This

award came as a

pleasant surprise. It fully covered my tuition and fees, which are a

substantial expense even for

students holding external funding.
