In 1939, the School’s name was changed to Nederlandsche Economische Hogeschool (Dutch School of Economics), which, in turn, was the successor in title of the current Erasmus School of Economics. The School became world-renowned for with its education and research in economics and econometrics.

In 1973, Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam was eventually created from the merger of Nederlandsche Economische Hogeschool and Medische Faculteit Rotterdam (Rotterdam Medical School).
