INTRODUCTION

CComp is a front-end application that replaces the TSO TWIST panels for proofing and the SP689 form for publishing. This application provides time saving for the user. Data for a proof/publish request is entered once and can be revised accordingly for future requests. CComp eliminates the repetition of entering a request. This document will provide information on the new catalog composition process for Authors, including:

Creating a proof request Creating a publish request Revising a previously submitted request Creating a request with multiple language editions Creating a request with multiple language grouping titles

With the implementation of CComp, RMDS20 will replace the TSO FSS screen for reviewing job output and reports. This document will review procedure to view COMPACT reports in RMDS20 and identify the new FTP site to download the composed PDF.

4.1.5 Request Type and Submit Date ScreenThis screen displays the request type, last submitted ID and the last submitted date of the request. This screen allows the Author to create multiple Language Edition requests and to create a PDF.

4.1.5.1 Authors have the option to create a PDF. This option is being offered as a way to decrease unit IPN processing costs. The average cost of generating a catalog PDF file is $26. Large catalogs can be in excess of $150 per run. It is recommended that if an Author does not require a hard copy of the proof, do not check Create PDF. Error Reports will still be generated and can be found in RMDS regardless if you check Create PDF. This is ideal especially for catalogs with multiple languages where PDFs may not be required for some languages. Selecting the Create PDF box will generate a PDF on the ftp.deere.com site shown later in this document.

4.1.5.2 Multiple language editions for a catalog can be created from this screen as required. To create another language edition, select Add Language.

4.1.5.3 If no additional language editions are necessary, click Next to go to the Summary screen. The Summary screen will be shown later in this document.

4.1.8.4 There are three options at the bottom of the screen. Authors have the option to run a proof non-prime. Prime time is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Central Standard Time). When selecting Non-Prime, the job will run after 4 p.m. and output will be available the next morning. There is 90% discount applied to jobs run non-prime. This creates a significant amount of cost savings for all units. It is not required, but it is encouraged that users take advantage of the option to run proofs non-prime. Selecting Cancel Request will take the Author back to the home page and eliminate the request. The Author will need to reinitiate the request from the beginning. No information entered previously will be saved for a new catalog request without selecting Submit Request.

6 CATALOG PUBLISH REQUEST

6.1 Catalog Publish Request – New Requests and Using Existing RequestsFor an Author, the Publish Request is simply that – a request. The Publisher is the individual who completes the process and publishes the catalog. There is an assumption that an Author would proof the catalog before publishing. If this is not true, follow steps in section 4 if no request exists in CComp. The Catalog Publish Request follows the exact same process and screens as the Catalog Proof Request. The only difference is that the Author must select the Publisher to whom the request should be sent. That screen will be shown later in this documentation.

6.1.1 Use an existing request to submit a Catalog Publish RequestIf a proof request exists, the request can be edited accordingly and used to submit the Publish Request. This request is distinct from the proof request and will be saved as well.

6.1.1.1 From the home page, select Catalog Publish Request.

6.1.1.2 Enter the catalog number (i.e. 1234) and select Search.

Page 29

6.1.2 Request Type and Submit Date Screen

6.1.2.1 When the PC number is entered, the following screen will return. This screen displays the Request Type, Last Submit ID and the Last Submit Date. The last request submitted was a proof request (PRF). If this catalog had been previously published within CComp, both a Proof Request and a Publish Request would be shown.

6.1.2.2 As with a proof request, multiple language editions for a catalog can be created from this screen. Once created, an Author can select all language editions available and submit one request for publication. Refer to section 4.1.2 for information on creating multiple language editions.

6.1.2.3 If no additional language editions are necessary, select the Language Edition by checking the box(es). Also, select Create PDF if it is necessary. Select Next.

Page 31

6.1.2.4 The Summary screen will return. If an Author selects Create PDF on a Publish Request, a cover is mandatory. CComp will provide an error message. To create a cover, select Edit Cover Information. The Author will be returned to the Cover Information page. Once cover is entered (refer to 4.1.4), select Next to return to the Summary screen.

7 CATALOG REQUEST OPTIONS

7.1 Multiple Request OptionsOnce a Catalog Publish Request is initiated, there will be two requests for that catalog until the Publisher publishes the request – the last submitted Proof Request (PRF) and the Publish Request In Process (RIP). Once a Publisher publishes the catalog, there are two options available to the Author - the last submitted Proof Request (PRF) and the last submitted Publish Request (PUB).

7.1.1 Publish Request in Process- RIPIf an Author logs on to CComp, selects Catalog Proof Request and enters the catalog number recently sent as a Publish Request - two options will appear: the last submitted Proof Request (PRF) and the Request In Process (RIP)

7.1.1.1 An Author can select either the PRF (Proof Request) or the RIP (Request In Progress), to submit a Catalog Proof Request.

7.1.1.2 CComp does not allow the Author to republish a catalog until the Publisher has published the initial RIP. The following error message will appear. If situation remains the same, select the Contact Us in CComp and contact support directly.

8.1.1 Successful Request SubmissionAn Author will receive the following message if the proof or publish request was successfully composed. If multiple language editions were requested, multiple emails will be sent relating the status of each edition

“The compose was successful for the English language edition of the 1234 catalog. The output will be on the MACTIS ftp site in the catalogs/composed/proof directory. Job output (reports) can be viewed in RMDS20.”

8.1.2 Failed RequestAn Author will receive the following message if the request composition was not successful. If multiple language editions were requested, multiple emails will be sent relating the status of each edition

9 REPORTS IN RMDS20/TSO FSS

9.1 COMPACT Composition Reports Authors are recommended to view their reports for any errors. Previously, reports were available in TSO FSS. Composition report output has been moved to RMDS20. Reports will be available for viewing in RMDS20 accessible through a 3270 Session Menu. There are eight reports generated. These are: COMPACT Proof Extract Sysout (Form BD8N), COMPACT Proof Extract Report (Form BD8P), COMPACT Proof Composition Sysout (Form BDNW); COMPACT Proof Composition Report (Form BDNX); COMPACT Publish Composition Sysout (Form BDNZ), COMPACT Publish Composition Report (Form BDP2); COMPACT Publish Extract Sysout (Form BD8Q) and COMPACT Publish Extract Report (Form BD8R).

Proof Extract reports are stored for two business days. Publish Extract reports are stored for ten business days.

The Proof Extract Sysout and the Publish Extract Sysout provide information on Condition Codes and includes JCL processing information for error investigation.

The Proof Extract Report and the Publish Extract Report provide an Error Report, Statistical Report, Pictorial Reference Report and Page Breakdown Report.

The Proof Composition Sysout and the Publish Composition Sysout provide JCL processing information for error investigation regarding the art export.

The Proof Composition Report and the Publish Composition Report provide an Art Export Report, which shows missing art.
