lsoladores Santana S.A. is the largest producer ofporcelain insulators for electrical purposes in theSouthern Hemisphere, and one of the biggest inthe world, producing more than ten thousand dif-ferent items of all kinds of insulators for low,medium, high and extra-high tension up to 800 kV(ac/dc).This progress is the result of the technologicaldevelopment obtained in ceramic bodies whichrequires the most up-to-date know-how, masteredby few porcelain manufacturers and in accor-dance with the current stage of scientific develop-ment, offering products noted for both theirmechanical strength and their electricalcharacteristics. QUALITY CONTROLThe Quality Control System was conceptualized,planned and implemented at Isoladores SantanaS.A. with the purpose of coordinating all ac-tivities related to the Quality Control Depart-ment, assuring production under standardprocedures established in its plannin~ stages.In terms of production, the Qualtty ControlSystem is composed of:The Chemical Ceramics LaboratoryThe Production Quality DepartmentThe Electro-Mechanical Laboratory

The Chemical-Ceramics Laboratory oversees theincoming raw materials, their treatment and thepreparation of the ceramics bodies.The Production Quality Department has theprimary responsability of controlling the entiremanufacturing process quality, up to the pointwhere the material leaves the kilns and is checkedand forwarded for final testing.The Electro-Mechanical Laboratory is in chargeof providing final tests of the dielectric and ofcomplete insulators with eventual hardware. Thelaboratory is equipped to perform tests accordingto A.B.N.T., ANSI, I.E.C, DIN and other inter-nationally known standards.
