Carver Vo‐Tech was founded in 1925 and was the first vocational‐technical school for the African American community in Baltimore.  The photo above is of the class of 1935.

Today Carver is the home to approximately 1,000 students and 85 faculty members.y pp y , yOur building went under a 30 million dollar renovation in 2008 and we have a state of the art facility.

We have earned Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for past 3 consecutive years.

Carver offers nine Vocational Pathways (Childcare, Culinary Arts, CAD, Carpentry, Masonry, Business, Cosmetology & Graphic & Printing ).  We are a college preparatory school and offer advanced placement (AP) courses. Additionally we have JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) on campus.

It is our priority to utilize every strategy available to become the career center school of choice for Baltimore City.

Graduation requirements include 21 specific credits; passing English and Math to advance the next grade level; 75 service learning hours; passing all HSA’s.

Electives include African American History; Coaching & Officiating; Economics; Swimming/Life Saving; Weight Training; Yearbook Production; and choice of foreign language (Chinese, French or Spanish). 

Career and Technology Education pathways allow us to effectively aid students with transition from school to the workforce, teaching students to become productive citizens and efficient entrepreneurs & employees.

Business Management and Finance teaches students expertise in Microsoft office, administrative support, business reports, interviewing techniques and gives real world application with work study opportunities.

CISCO networking students learn IT essentials to become certified network associates.  Students learn network operating systems and web‐based content.  This is just another example of how Carver prepares students for success for college and career readiness.

Cosmetology students prepare for state licenses with up to 1,000 hours work study in our very own salon.Students learn the ins and outs of facials, hair, nails, skin care and make up.

Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) inspires students to pursue careers as architects, machine designers, structural, aeronautical, marine and civil engineering.  We teach manual drafting and blueprint reading while incorporating the creation and interpretation of technical drawings.

Students specializing in CADD utilize AutoCAD 2009 3ds Max and InventorStudents specializing in CADD utilize AutoCAD 2009, 3ds Max and Inventor.Animation and 3D solid modeling provide additional opportunities for students to learn and grow.

Carpentry students learn shop and tool safety.  We also teach construction of floors, walls, ceilings, roofs, windows and doors.

State of the art classrooms and dedicated staff support students learning exterior finishing, insulation, cabinetry,dry wall and exterior trim.  This pathway also leads towards NCCER certification.

Students interested in building structures using mortar, brick, stone, granite, concrete block, marble or tile pursue masonry. We teach safety regulations, maintenance and identification of tools and reading blueprints.

Through theoretical and practical application students are taught design and construct layouts as well as concrete, masonry and brick laying.  Students learn how to build driveways, walls and sidewalks as they pursue NCCER certification.

Students interested in food and beverage may obtain PROSTART certification as they learn their way around the culinary classroom.  We g y y y yprepare students for professional baking and catering.

Carver Athletics includes Men's and Women's Cross Country, Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field, Basketball and Swimming.

Women’s athletics include Volleyball, Softball, Badminton and Dance.

Our track team is the reigning back‐to‐back Maryland State Champion!!
