How We Got Here

In 1983, founder John Erickson built the first Erickson Living community on the grounds of the abandoned St. Charles

seminary in Catonsville, Maryland. Charlestown quickly became the most sought after address for retirees in the area.

No where else could middle income seniors enjoy resort-style amenities, unparalleled health and wellness services and

an abundance of opportunities to stay active and involved in life—all just a short walk from their stylish, maintenance-

free apartment home.

Best of all, this extraordinary lifestyle offered financial peace of mind. Since most retirees are on a fixed income, the

company designed a Monthly Service Package where regular bills including utilities, property taxes and even one meal

a day are covered by a single fee that remains consistent all year long.

The success of Charlestown inspired our leaders to expand their vision. Today, over 27 years since the first

Erickson Living community opened its doors, the Erickson Living network has grown to 16 campuses in nine states.

Erickson Living continues to build on our original mission: to change the way Americans view aging by consistently

offering services and resources that make growing older something to look forward to. When asked how they feel about

their Erickson Living community, residents most often say, “I wish I’d moved here sooner!”

Administration

The executive teams at our corporate office and within each community are responsible for strategic planning, policies,

corporate partnerships, employee and resident satisfaction, financial stewardship and other activities that guide the

direction of the organization.

Dining Services

Each Erickson Living community features multiple on-site dining venues that offer residents a wide variety of meal

options. These restaurants are operated by a Dining Services staff comprised of chefs, managers and servers.

Finance

The Finance Department staff establishes and maintains comprehensive accounting controls with efficient

procedures. They manage the operating revenue and expenses and resident billing. They also assist all employees

in being fiscally responsible.

General Services

Members of the General Services staff handle the maintenance of the apartment homes and grounds at each

community. They also oversee on-site transportation and provide 24-hour campus security.

Human Resources

The Human Resources professionals at Erickson Living confidentially handle all matters related to employees. They are

responsible for full-cycle recruiting, on-boarding, training and development, employee relations, benefits, compensation,

payroll and events.

Information Technology (IT)

This team of experts supports the technological requirements of every department and individual employee at

Erickson Living. Each community has its own IT site manager and staff to ensure employee and resident needs are met.

OPPORTUNITIES

Marketing

Erickson Living has a full-service, in-house advertising department that develops and creates materials for a variety of

different mediums. This team supports our sales partners by providing strategic marketing direction, as well as designing

and writing content for newspaper ads, television commercials, direct mail, events and collateral for both current and

prospective residents.

Medical Center

Every Erickson Living community has an on-site medical center staffed with full-time physicians, nurse practitioners and

specialists. These professionals work exclusively with residents to create health and wellness programs that will help maintain

and improve their overall well-being and ability to remain independent.

Resident Life

A primary benefit of living at an Erickson Living community is the abundance of social activities available to residents. Members

of this department assist residents in starting their own clubs, finding volunteer opportunities in the greater community

and planning events and fund-raisers. This department is comprised of a wide variety of vocations, including social

workers, home support specialists and pastoral ministries.

Renaissance Gardens

In order to provide a full continuum of care to our residents, Erickson Living communities provide extended care

services on campus in our Renaissance Gardens neighborhood. These state-of-the-art care units employ individuals

who specialize in skilled nursing care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and assisted living care.

Sales

In an effort to help as many seniors as possible enjoy the unique Erickson Living lifestyle, we employ a dynamic

sales team at each of our campuses. These friendly, knowledgeable professionals are often a potential resident’s first

introduction to the community. Members of the sales staff guide and direct individuals and their families through the

entire process of moving. Team members provide personal tours of the campus, organize and speak at special events,

assist with the completion of paperwork and answer specific questions.
