1.INTRODUCTION
1.1 General
There are two items in miscellany calculation. One is monorail crane and other is hatch cover.
The monorail crane and hatch cover are calculated by Finite element analysis. The analysis models are
constructed by MSC Patran, and solved by MSC Nastran. The using element is plate element and averaging
element size is 60mm ~ 100mm.
1.2 Plans and Documents
The following plans and documents have been used in the analysis of monorail crane and hatch cover.

2. MONORAIL CRANE CALCULATION
2.1 Analysis model
For the analysis idealization of monorail crane, the model extent is selected maximum span area (4295mm)
and braces are skipped.
The maximum span area and analysis model is shown below Figure 2.1.1.

2.2 Boundary and loading condition
As show below Figure2.2.1, the end of upper flange of i-beam is Tx, Ty, Tz fixed. And web plate and lower
flange is Tx fixed.
The applied load is calculated as below.
Safety working load : 2 ton Dynamic amplification factor : 1.5 Input load = 2 ton x 1.5 = 3 ton (29430N)

6. CONCLUSION
From the analysis results, the maximum von-mises stress of monorail crane is founded at upper flange, the
value is 49.9Mpa and the maximum shear stress is 13.7Mpa at web plate. And the maximum von-mises stress
of hatch cover is occurred at hatch cover plate, the value is 31.2Mpa and the maximum shear stress is
8.82Mpa at frame member UPN140. These values are lower than allowable stress as mentioned above chapter
3 and 5.
The maximum deflection value of monorail is 1.78 mm. This is satisfied to allowable criteria 13.2mm. And
the maximum deflection of hatch cover is founded at cover plate, the value is 1.82mm and the frames value
is 0.6mm. This is lower than the allowable deflection value is 7.69mm.
Based on the results of analysis, the monorail crane and hatch cover have sufficient structural strength undereach loading conditions.
