Adobe Flash Player is a cross-platform, browser-based application runtime that provides uncompromised viewing of expressive applications, content, and videos across browsers and operating systems.

Used to be known as Macromedia Flash Also, Flash enhances websites to give it

more of an appealing look

What is Adobe Flash?

Accessible in desktop operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS 9/X & Linux ◦ This allows websites to play videos and games

Flash is provided on mobile devices such as Android & BlackBerry

Many movies use Flash in order to create special effects like in the movie Transformers, or Harry Potter

Used in advertisements to effectively market a product

Uses of Flash

Flash Video allows videos to be viewed over the internet using Adobe Flash Player◦ Sites such as YouTube, Hulu, VEVO, and Yahoo

Video use flash as their default video player Adobe Flash Player is used on all computers

and smart phones excluding IPhones The ShockWave Flash (.SWF) support file

format was first introduced in Flash Player 6 which was released in 2002◦ Other formats now are .FLV, .F4V, and .MPEG
