Bourns Announces Sale of Connection Business to COMTEST NETWORKSRiverside, California - May 1, 2020 - Bourns announced today that it has agreed to sell all assets associated with its Connection business to an affiliate of COMTEST Networks, Inc., Canexsys Networks, Inc. (“COMTEST”). Details of the transaction remain confidential.
About COMTEST NetworksCOMTEST Networks enhances the experience of broadband for millions of customers around the world. With its suite of broadband products, COMTEST Networks improves the quality and reliability of next-generation networks. COMTEST Networks is headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
Transition PlanDue to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on current Bourns manufacturing operations and temporary reduction in customer demand, Bourns and COMTEST have decided to accelerate the transition plan for the Connection business. Bourns’ manufacturing plant for Connection business products is currently closed. It is unclear when Bourns’ manufacturing location would otherwise be able to reopen. During the closure period, all manufacturing equipment, fixtures and tooling will be transferred to COMTEST to permit immediate setup, testing and requalification. The manufacturing site COMTEST will use to continue to manufacture Connection products is only seven kilometers from Bourns’ locations. The transition plan contemplates that purchase orders issued to Bourns will be cancelled and replaced with orders issued to COMTEST. Bourns and COMTEST anticipate up to a two-week delay to current shipping schedules. To ease backlog transition, COMTEST will continue to use the same part numbers for Connection business products as previously used by Bourns.
