Principal’s Message A person always doing his or her best becomes a natural leader, just by example and the purpose of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers. A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. Our ‘Learning to Lead’ program provides students with a range of opportunities to enhance their leadership skills.

• The whole school lunch this week provided an opportunity for our SRC (Student Representative Council) to work as a team, plan, budget and organise an event for the whole school. It was great to see students sitting around tables in the hall sharing a meal and engaged in animated conversation. The hall was buzzing with laughs, smiles and I would like to congratulate and thank the SRC for their efforts – well done!

• Each Awards assembly students have the opportunity to present a report on activities and learning opportunities they have been part of. I am always very proud of the way our students present these reports – clear speaking voices, eye contact with the audience and beautifully crafted descriptions of their experiences. I encourage all students to take up these opportunities throughout the year to further develop their public speaking skills.

• Coaching, supporting, leading and being part of a team is another way to enhance leadership skills. At Bombala High School, students can be part of sporting or academic teams. I would like to wish our Maths team a great day of learning to lead at the Bega Mathematics Day which will take place in the coming weeks.

• Our 2018 School Presidents have developed a range of skills over the past year and we will formally welcome our 2019 School Presidents at the Yr 12 Formal Assembly on 27 September.

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. You create your own opportunities - be the leader you would like to follow!

Parent Teacher interviews a success

Parent teacher interviews were conducted on the 21st & 29th August. A large number of parents took the opportunity to speak to their child’s teachers face to face, with over 200 interviews booked. With catering provided (and the heaters on), it was a warm, informal atmostphere that parents enjoyed.
