Operation Viking is continuing and being very successful in reducing Burglaries. We are continuing with extra patrols both overt and covert across the area. All of our main targets have now been charged with offences or are receiving high levels of attention to dissuade them from re offending.

You can also follow the Bolton Centre team on @TWITTER.COM/GMPBoltonCentre, this is updated daily with information re crime trends in your area.

Rumworth

This period we have had 1 burglary at a house on Willows Lane during the early hours of 4th

September. The offender managed to force the front door and was disturbed as he entered. The occupant was unable to give a solid description so the male is still out there.3 theft from vehicles in the Brandwood Street area, 2 via smashed windows and 1 which has had the number plates stolen.A large cannabis farm was found in a house on Willows Lane after officers had discovered one nearby owned by same landlord, needless to say all the items found have now been seized and will be destroyed.

Please remind all that if they suspect anything no matter how small please report it, after all you never know how important that piece of information may be.

Town Centre

The thefts of pedal cycles left in the town centre continues, we have had 2 further ones stolen from around Victoria Square where the padlocks have been forced.

One other incident of note, some questionable person has poured oil across the steps of a fire exit at the Bolton University. Intentions not clear at this time but seems a mindless act.

As stated last time, with regard to cycle security please ensure your lock is of an approved type, if in doubt any reputable dealer will advise on this. And please try and use recognised cycle bays.

Halliwell

Good news this time, no reports of Burglary across the area. This hopefully shows we are targeting the right people and the information passed by Homewatch members is of immense quality.

No vehicles stolen, however we have had 2 separate works vans broken into around Shepherd Cross Street and tools stolen during first few days of the month.

Please keep up the good work and report anyone suspicious, also advise any neighbours about leaving tools on display in vehicles which don't have adequate security.

Burglary still a priority, both inside and outside the main building (sheds etc). But also ASB / disorder on Long Lane adjacent to Leverhulme Park. Police are to increase presence and target the area and take positive action.

5 warrants this week in a specific hot spot, drugs recovered and two arrested while executing these warrants.

Officers will be providing briefings to community groups regarding our new Stop and Search policy. Any Homewatch groups interested in receiving a brief from one of our officers, please let us know

Tonge Moor, Tonge Fold and The Haulgh

We have had 2 Burglaries in the Ainsworth lane area, one via an insecure rear door on Ainsworth Lane on the 6th, but the other one on the 3rd of September at Tonge Park Avenue is a bit of a concern as the offenders have removed tools from the insecure shed and then used them to break into the home via the rear kitchen window.

One vehicle stolen from LeGendre Street, the offender had managed to remove the occupants keys from her bag. Vehicle recovered nearby thankfully.

Please ensure residents remain vigilant with home and vehicle security. Always ensuring windows and doors are locked and secured with any alarms set. If you see anyone acting suspiciously at the rear of properties please report it asap.

Breightmet North and South

There have been 2 burglaries in this area over the past fortnight. 1 on Bury Road near to the Co-Op and 1 on Ashley Avenue. The common factor being they both occurred during the daytime, entry being gained by climbing over the rear fence. The Fellowship Hall on Winchester Way has been broken into over the weekend of the 30th.

Disappointing to see that we have had 2 cars broken into around Crossdale Road, again on the 2th/30th August. Property stolen as a result of the doors being left unlocked.

Please ensure residents are vigilant with home and vehicle security. Never leave windows open wide. This will give opportunist burglars an easy entry into your homes. If you go out ensure windows are closed and locked both upstairs and downstairs.

Bradshaw and Harwood

One Burglary along Hardy Mill Road on the 8th, the offenders gaining entry via an insecure rear door. Disturbed by the householder as it was only 10pm and made off in an u/k direction.

Please ensure residents are vigilant with home security always ensuring windows and doors are locked and secure with any alarms set. If you see anyone hanging around please report or make a note of the description and any vehicles they may be using.

Bromley Cross

3 burglaries around Blackburn Road Egerton on the 2nd and 3rd Sept. All of them have the same mo in that the offender has targeted house which don't have alarm systems and then used heavy objects from the rear gardens to smash patio windows.

Please ensure residents continue to be vigilant with home security always ensuring windows and doors are locked and secure with any alarms set.

Astley Bridge

There have been 3 burglaries this period, which thankfully is down on last time. 2 around the Ollerton/Andrew Lane area on 1st/2nd

Sept whereby entry has been gained through insecure rear door or window. The alarm went off on one and the offenders ran off, however on the second one a vehicle was taken but later recovered.

Please check doors and windows , let‟s not let the opportunist thief get the upper hand.

Crompton and Hall'ithwood Wood

5 Burglaries around the top end of Halliwell Road and side streets, no common factor but someone is obviously taking advantage of some rich pickings. Sadly no sightings or information as to likely suspects.

Please reiterate to all members the importance of “keeping an eye out”, anything suspicious to be noted and reported especially strange vehicles late at night.
