Our sphere of influence
Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship | 11
We bring social entrepreneurship into universities. Students in Social Entrepreneurship Camps develop business models to solve our world’s socio-ecological challenges.
We assist companies and organisations in determining how they can increase their social yields.
We provide practical training and education for founders in the social sector (i.e., social entre- and intrapreneurs). Our assistance is free of charge for the social startup.
Our Sphere of Activity
We build a network of experienced and socially dedicated entrepreneurs - our social business angels. They share their experience and knowledge in coaching and workshops.

For Companies: Impact Optimisation
Benefits:
We enable companies to generate social returns
from available resources.
Current status:
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in recent
years has developed increasingly into a purely
marketing and public relations tool. Companies
who actually wish to make an impact in our society
require new approaches.
Our solution:
Our impact optimisation is focussed on developing
an individualised solution to integrate social
entrepreneurship as a component in the company’s
DNA.
Target group:
• Companies
Expected results:
• Impact audit
• Development of project ideas
• Contact with leaders
Services:
• Guided social innovation process
• Advanced training concepts
• Event concepts
• Consultation during
implementation

Implementation: Impact Optimisation through Advanced Training with Local Initiatives
Event format “engagiert in Oberfranken,” developed for Raps KG (Kulmbach).
16 | Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship
Benefits:
Companies position themselves as an attractive
employer for students and graduates.
Current status:
When choosing a career, graduates are placing
increasing value on non-monetary factors like
purpose and ethics. In this regard, employer
branding is uncharted territory for companies
- with the end result that particularly dedicated
applicants do not become the skilled workers of
tomorrow.
Our solution:
Our attractive event formats give companies
the opportunity to present themselves as an
attractive and dedicated employer in a high-
quality environment as well as foster intensive
communication with students.
For Companies: Employer Branding
Target group:
• Companies
Expected results:
• Contact with graduates
• New applicants
• Branding in an attractive
environment
Services:
• Content input as part of our
events, e.g. lectures.
• Prominent placement of company
names and logo
• Opportunity for presentation
(dependent upon format, e.g., expo
stand)
Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship | 17
Implementation: Direct Contact with Students at our Events
Our approach is based on interactive exchange between students and company representatives.
18 | Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship
For Companies: Advanced Training
Benefits:
Companies send their technical and management
staff to educational events on issues like
social entrepreneurship and social innovation.
Participants also network with leaders in the
branch.
Current status:
Training opportunities in the corporate social
responsibility sector are often reactive. The
individual, practical applicability of training
options is often insufficient or cost-intensive.
Our solution:
We offer an innovative learning solution: together
with student teams and external speakers, we
advance charitable projects within the company
through our Social Entrepreneurship Camps.
Target group:
• Companies
Expected results:
• Stimulation of social
entrepreneurship through student
initiatives
• Contact with students and leaders
in the branch
• Direct feedback
Services:
• Identification of suitable training
formats
• Collaboration, e.g., with Social
Entrepreneurship Camps at
universities
• Evaluation of ideas and
development of pilot projects
Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship | 19
Implementation: Learning Together with Students
Many companies utilise the Social Entrepreneurship Camps to develop charitable projects within the company.
20 | Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship
For Companies: Executive Programmes
Benefits:
Companies advance the social-reflexive skills
in their most important management staff in
executive programmes on the issue of social
entrepreneurship.
Current status:
Social entrepreneurship is part of many companies’
vision - yet practical, everyday implementation
is difficult, by comparison. Employees save their
social causes for their free time.
Our solution:
Executives are placed as coaches and speakers
for social entrepreneurship. Besides staff
development, social benefits are also created as
a result.
Target group:
• Companies
Expected results:
• Fostering motivation and loyalty
amongst management staff
• Examination of new business
models
• Strengthening social
entrepreneurship
Services:
• Implementation of social vision in
concrete action recommendations
• Creation of an individual
development plan
• Channeling social commitment
Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship | 21
Implementation: Entrepreneur Engagement in the Training of New Social Entrepreneurs
Entrepreneur Christian Dreyer shares his experiences with students.
22 | Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship
For Universities: Social Entrepreneurship Camps
Benefits:
Students obtain a practical introduction to social
entrepreneurship and learn methods of business
model development.
Current status:
The topic of social entrepreneurship is on the
agenda of many universities, but for very few is it a
component of the curriculum.
Our solution:
A Social Entrepreneurship Camp from Hilfswerft
integrates practical application, alumni work,
and social commitment in a high-quality seminar
concept.
Target group:
• Universities, foundations and
business development entities (as
organisers)
Expected results:
• Networking
• Business models
• Public relations
Services:
• Concept / coordination
• Acquiring speakers
• Moderation and implementation
• Follow-up care

Students at the University of Witten/Herdecke work out business models for social change.
24 | Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship
For Multipliers: Social Startup Pitch
Benefits:
Founders of socially-oriented companies will be
trained and educated and be brought together
with collaborative partners and financial backers.
Current status:
Founders of innovative social business models
often fail in the early phase due to a lack of access
to resources that are critical for success (such as
financing, reach, and staff).
Our solution:
We create networking opportunities between
founders and established companies and
multipliers through social startup pitches.
Target group:
• Economic development entities,
media and foundations (as
organisers)
Expected results:
• Visible event format
• Public attention, public relations
• Networking
Services:
• Concept and curating
• Procuring participants
• Addressing and selecting startups
• Moderation

26 | Hilfswerft – Blueprints for Social Entrepreneurship
For Founders: Social Entrepreneur Programme
Benefits:
Coaching, networking and advanced training of
socially-motivated founder personalities.
Current status:
Social entrepreneurship is founding for those
at the advanced level. The social entrepreneur
is confronted with many challenges, which they
must first solve. This is not a rare phenomenon,
and is very cost- and time-intensive.
Our solution:
As part of our social entrepreneur programme,
we coach selected founders, connect them with
relevant experts, and, as a result, increase the
chances of success for their visions.
Target group:
• Founders and social entrepreneurs
Expected results:
• Acceleration
• Professionalisation
• Improving the odds of success
Services:
• Coaching
• Providing contacts
• Process optimisation
• Transfer interim activities to video

Implementation: Social Entrepreneur Promotion

For Entrepreneurs and Management Staff: Social Business Angel Programme
Benefits:
Coordinated by us, entrepreneurs and
management staff can utilise their experiences,
contacts and knowledge in order to attain the
maximal social effect.
Current status:
Entrepreneurs are often asked to support their
visions with financial donations. In contrast, their
much more important resources - their skills - are
utilised much too seldom for social challenges.
Our solution:
With our Social Business Angel Programme, we
enable goal-oriented, effective engagement for
people who have exceptional skills, but have little
time.
Target group:
• Entrepreneurs and management
staff
Expected results:
• Staff development
• Contact with social entrepreneurs
and like-minded people
• Personal creation of meaning,
accepting social responsibility
Services:
• Provide mentors
• Goal-oriented engagement
• Networking with like-minded
people
