    The club was delighted to welcome John Brook and his parentsMelissa and Phillip to our meeting on 11th March. John Brook hasbeen given the all clear after his heart surgery and the family are

    preparing to return home on Saturday 14th. Philip gave anemotional thank you to the club and ROMAC for saving their son’ slife and presented the club with a painting completed bythemselves. JB has gone from a quiet little boy into a very activeand happy little man during his stay in NZ and loves the openingdoors at Ronald McDonald House. Above he is taking over themicrophone from President Alan. Gaston has headed this projectand all members who have contributed have found this experiencevery rewarding.

    Councillor George Wood A Rotarian from Takapuna, George wasintroduced by his cousin President ElectTom. George spoke about issues facingAuckland that are never reported in mainstream media which directly affect residents.Liquor Licensing regulations, changes in therubbish collection system, how the council ismanaged on a day today basis amongstother things.  Georgefinished his speech by

    saying “he was optimistic with the way thecouncil was working” . Members found thespeech interesting and George took questionsfrom the floor.

    Literacy

    Little FreeLibrary

    It’s a “take a

    book, return abook” gathering

    place whereneighbours share

    their favouriteliterature and

    stories.

    In its most basicform, a Little FreeLibrary is a box

    full of books whereanyone may stopby and pick up abook and share

    another book.

    We are now into the evaluationphrase and planning for 2016will commence over the winter

    Car Parking at the Home Show20-21-22 March

    The club has been doing this for a number ofyears and we have been contributing thefunds raised to our Rotary Foundation

    commitment of US$100 (NZ$125) perannum each.

    St Johns Collection 6-12 April – Lets all getbehind this year’s collection to make it the bestever and maintain our standard of collecting atotal, better than all the other collection points on

    the Shore put together.

    District Conference 1-3 MayHave you booked for the conference? If you are interested inYouth, one of the speakers, Brook Turner CEO of Zeal will be very

    interesting to you. Brook has completed aDiploma in Youth Work and is currentlyworking on a Not-for-profit diploma fromUnitec. Brook has 13 years youth workexperience and has written a leadershipcurriculum that is now taught in ten highschools throughout the Wellington region,

    specialising in cognitive theory programshelping young people work through socialissues in a community context.

    Duties if  you can't make it, it’s your responsibility to arrange another member to do your duty  Welcome: Arrive early and assist set up if needed. Welcome membersand guests and let them know the meeting format, raffle, point out bar,toilets and anything else you feel appropriate.

    Set Up: Arrive early and set up the banners, bell, gavel, rostrum,screen and table for projector. Make sure sound system is working. Afterthe meeting return equipment to the same position in which you found it.

    Grace: Research appropriate grace or reflection. Present before meal. Ifyou wish it to be published in the bulletin email to editor.

    Introduce Speaker: Arrival early to meet speaker. Purchaserefreshment for him and assist with set up required for presentation. Sit

    with speaker during meal and refine you introduction speaker of 2 to 3minutes.

    Thank Speaker: After speech thank the Speaker for thepresentation and giving up his time to address the club. Present “Pen” as a

    thank you gift.

    Part Thought: Prepare a part thought appropriate to the occasion.Present at the end of the meeting before the Innovation. Email to bulletin
