To the residents of the Belledune Community

On behalf of our staff at Jacquet River School, I wish to publically thank the Council of the Village of Belledune, the staff at Fire Station No. 1, in particular Joey Dempsey, and our school custodian, John

Culligan, for their time, resources, and effort to build and maintain the school’s outdoor rink. I am aware there have been members of our community who have cleared the ice on the weekend, as

well. A big thank you to those anonymous individuals, too. I would also like to thank Dwayne Woodcox Trucking for making our sliding hill in the playground.

The students at our school and members of our community have enjoyed the rink and sliding hill, and it would not have happened without support and help from these people.

Than you from our school.

Alistair Tulloch

Principal and Music Teacher

New Village Employees

It is my pleasure to announce that the Village has two new members of the Village team. Gabe Comeau is now an employee at the arena. Some people may have already met Gabe. Gabe loves the

game of hockey and loves being around the rink, so we decided to put him to work. Also joining the Village team on May 4th is William (Billy) Chater who will be working in our public

works department and getting to know “the guys “. Both gentlemen come from Belledune and have returned from elsewhere to enjoy the beauty of the Chaleur region.

I know you will join with me in welcoming these men into the Village family of employees.

Message from Bathurst/Belledune RCMP – RSC3 - 2015-04-23

The Bathurst/Belledune RCMP would like to remind the public that with the melting of the snow, that it

will soon be summer tire season. The Government of New Brunswick Legislation on studded tires states

that the allowable dates for studded tires in the province of New Brunswick is from October 15th to May

1st. Thus please make sure that you remove winter studded tires before May 1st.

With the spring thaw will also come the emergence of pot holes and other damages to roadways

because of winter ice melt. You are all encouraged to be vigilant and be on the look-out for such holes.

The damage to roadways can be reported to the department of transportation or the municipality.

Bathurst/Belledune RCMP would like to advise the community that we have recently set up a youth

community policing office at the Jacquet River School. This project is a great initiative to have a police

presence in the school and be able to meet with the school’s youth. RCMP members will be attending

the school on a regular basis to interact with the school’s youth. Please be advised that this is not a

police station or detachment, thus we advise residents to not come to the school for police assistance.

Please use the normal reporting options such as dialing 911 or 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) for police

assistance.

The RCMP would also like to remind Belledune and surrounding residents that the RCMP Musical Ride

will be in your area on June 12th and June 13th of this year. This is a once in lifetime opportunity to view

one of the most recognizable equestrian activities in the world. Come out and meet our riders!

If you require assistance that is urgent dial 911, if not urgent or just have a question call us any time at

1-888-506-RCMP (7267).

Sgt. Benoit Jolette

Notice – Roadside Cleanup

Roadside Cleanup 2015 on May 9th, 2015 for Non-Profit Organizations Only

In 2015 the Roadside Cleanup program will follow the same format as in previous years– A One Day Event. The Village has scheduled the date for Saturday, May 9th, with all participating non-profit organizations doing the Roadside Cleanup on the same day (no exceptions), to be followed by a lunch at the Belledune Recreation Centre at 12:30 p.m. for the participants. An alternate rain date will be Saturday, May 23rd, 2015. By hosting this as a One Day event, the municipality will be able to provide some public awareness regarding cleanup and anti-littering as well as promote safety messages to the general public while the event is taking place. It will also allow the municipality to coordinate the collection of the debris by municipal personnel to correspond with the collection day. Please submit your response for commitment to participate in the Roadside Cleanup by Friday, April 17th, 2015 by returning the form to the municipal office. If the form is not received by Friday, April 17th, another non-profit organization will be allotted the opportunity to participate in place of your group. _____________________________________________________________________________
