Adoption Support The Adoption Support and Orphan/Foster Care Committee has a three-part focus of supporting families who are exploring and navigating the adoption process, encouraging BUMC foster families (6 families now in training!), and facilitating orphan care opportunities for our congregation. Our vision for our congregation is to embrace caring for God’s most vulnerable children in some way by serving the least of these. Contact Stephanie Walton at 615-243-5531.Inclusivity Ministry This ministry seeks to ensure that BUMC is a place where all people have a home to follow Christ. The mission of this ministry is to provide care and support for those who are seeking to find and experience the love of Christ within a community of faith regardless of their sexual orientation, as well as provide resources for their family members and friends. Contact Rev. Erin Racine: 324-7244, [email protected]. Domestic Violence Ministry Domestic Violence is not just about hitting. It can take many forms through the use of power and control. Abuse can look like coercion and threats, intimidation, isolation, minimizing or denying a part-ner’s feelings, and blaming the victim for abusive behavior. If you or a loved one are afraid of a partner’s temper, afraid to disagree, or avoid others because of a partner’s jealousy, confidential assistance is available through BUMC, Bridges Domestic Violence Center of Williamson County, or the YWCA Crisis Line. Helpful Contacts: Rev. Erin Racine, Pastor of Caring Ministries at BUMC: 373-3663, ext. 244. Caroline Beavers, LPC-MHSP at BUMC Counseling Center: 371-2550; Bridges Domestic Violence Center: 599-5777; YWCA Crisis Line: 242-1199.
