Isang mapagpalang pagbati!
Ikinalulugod ko pong ilahad ang Barangay Socio-Economic Profile ng
Malinao Ilaya, Atimonan, Quezon. Ito ang magsisilbing batayan sa
pagbabalangkas ng mga programa at proyektong higit na tutugon at
makapagpapaunlad ng ating barangay.
Layunin din nito na ipabatid ang higit na pangangailangan ng ating
barangay sa lahat ng mga kinauukulan, para sa nararapat na pakikipag-
ugnayan at kooperasyon, tulad ng National Government Agencies, Local
Government Units – bayan/ lungsod/ lalawigan, mga pribadong sector at iba pa.
Ngunit higit sa lahat, layunin nito na ipahatid sa ating mga kabarangay
ang tunay na kalagayan ng ating barangay para sa kanilang kabatiran at higit
na pakikipagtulungan. Gayundin para sa katuparan ng Official Atimonan
Website and Tourism Concern ng bayan ng Atimonan.

TANGGAPAN NG PUNUMBAYAN
MENSAHE
Mahalaga ang kamulatan ng mamamayan sa mga impormasyon ukol sa
bawat barangay ng Atimonan. Ang magbigay ng konkreto at angkop na mga
datos ang layunin ng Socio-Economic Profile ng mga Barangay. Ito rin ang
magsisilbing matibay na batayan upang mabalangkas ng Pamahalaang Bayan
ang mga programang pangkaunlaran na ang mamamayan ang higit na
makikinabang.
Ang ating mamamayan ang salamin ng kaunlaran ng bayan kaya ang
progreso ng apatnapu’t dalawang barangay ay pinapahalagahan ng Lokal na
Pamahalaan ng Atimonan. Ang Socio-economic Profile ang testimonya na patuloy
ang pag-unlad ng ating bayan.

VISION
Maging bayang maunlad, masagana, mapayapa at may
pagmamahal sa kalikasan, na ang mga mamamayan ay
nagkakaisa, nagtutulungan, masayang namumuhay, may
mataas na antas ng moralidad at pagsunod sa Diyos.
MISSION
Bigyan ng sapat na kabuhayan ang lahat ng mamamayan,
patuloy na gumagawa at magpatupad ng mga batas na
makatutulong sa pag unlad ng barangay, at palaganapin ang
pangangalaga sa kalikasan.
1. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
KASAYSAYAN NG BARANGAY MALINAO ILAYA
Ang Malinao Ilaya ay kinilala sa gayong pangalan matapos pagdalawahin ang isang
mahabang nayon na noong una ay kilala sa taguring Malinao. Ang isang bahagi ng nasabing
nayon noong panahong iyon ay tinawag na Malinao Ibaba at ang bagong dagdag na
kalawakan ng bukiring nahawan at pinagtitirhan ng mabilis na dumaraming mga taong-
nayon ay tinawag na Malinao Ilaya. Magpahanggang ngayon ang salitang ibaba at ilaya ang
nagpapaliwanag sa sarili kung alin sa dalawa.
Malinao ang naging binyag sa nayong ito sa dahilang noong bago pa lamang
nililinis ang mga makikitid na pantayin at bundukin ay napuna ng mga unang tao na ang
lahat ng batis at mga ilog ay dinadaluyan ng masagana, malinis, at malinaw na tubig na
hindi nalalabo bagaman at ang nayong ito ay nasa paanan ng mataas at mahabang bundok
ng Sierra Madre na kaugnay ng Bundok Banahaw.
Matapos na maitatag at ihiwalay ang Ilaya sa dating pinagsimulang pook ang
nayong Malinao Ilaya ay binuo ng mga sumusunod na purok:
1. Kabay-an
2. Bulong-bulongan
3. Malapaho
4. Labak-an
Ang pagkakatatag ng nayong Malinao Ilaya ay kinilala noong taong 1912-1913 sa
kahilingan ni G. Juan Martinez, kalihim ng bayan sa mga unang tanyag at pinaniniwalaang
tao sa pook na ito na sina: G. Hermogenes Escasa at Juan Ambas. Ang dahilan ay sapagkat
ang dating nayon ng Malinao ay napakalawak at ang isang Punong Nayon na malagay sa
tungkulin ay tumanggap ng maraming gusot sa pagpapatupad. Halimbawa’y kung ang isang
punong nayon ay naninirahan sa dakong Ibaba, ang mga taong nasa dakong Ilaya ay hindi
dadalo sa pulong. Kung sa ilaya naman gaganapin ang pulong, nag-aatubili namang dumalo
ang mga taga Ibaba. Gayundin ang umiiral na kalooban ng mga taganayon kapag may mga
okasyon tulad ng “Bisita Opisyal”, tapusan ng dasal sa nayon at iba pang pagtitipon. Ang
Punong Bayan noong mga taong iyon ay si Don Gregorio Orda at ang konsehal ng Distrito ay
si G. Victorio Vargas.
2. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Barangay Malinao Ilaya is located about 11 kilometers away from town’s poblacion.
This barangay is located along National Highway bounded on the north by Barangay Sta.
Catalina, on the south by Barangay Sipa, Padre Burgos, Quezon, on the east by Barangay
Magsaysay and on the west by Barangay Malicboy Pagbilao, Quezon.
It has a total land area of 1,325.4077 hectares per record of Municipal Assessors Office
composed of eight puroks- Purok Matinik, Purok Bulung-bulungan, Purok Central, Purok
Nabak-an I (Balik-balik), Purok Nabak-an II, Purok Nabak-an III (Bitin), Purok Bagong Silang I
at Purok Bagong Silang II (Alabang).

3. SOCIO-ECONOMIC SECTOR RHU Survey of population 2014, showed that Barangay Malinao Ilaya had a population of 3457 with a computed population growth rate of 2.62%. There are more male than female, with age distribution revealing 72.75% of the total population belongs to ages 10-59 years old; 19.06% under 1 year old to 9 years old and 8.19% belonging to 60 years old and above. This shows that Barangay Malinao Ilaya has a strong working population and low dependent population. School going population (pre-school, elementary, secondary and college) is computed at
40.61% of the total population and the most common religion is Roman Catholic and Iglesia ni
Cristo.

53.16% or 704.5289 hectares area of the barangay is devoted to agriculture. Major
crops are copra and rice. Their total irrigated area is 30 hectares. Some of the populace are
leaned to poultry production for additional source of income.

Binuo ito upang higit na mabigyang pansin ang pangunahing Yaman ng Barangay; ito’y ang COCONUT (Punong Niyog) at lahat ng mga produktong dito’y maaaring magmula. Ang kauna-unahang pagdiriwang nito ay isinagawa, February 10, 2012 kasabay ng Barangay Fiesta na ipinagdiriwang naman tuwing ikalawang biyernes sa buwan ng Pebrero, sa Karangalan ng Patrona ng Barangay; MAHAL NA BIRHEN NG LOURDES, at paggunita parin sa ika-100 taong anibersaryo ng barangay.
