100 Rep Challenge

James Davis is proud to

represent

the 100 Rep

Challenge

in Surrey.

It’s not

as scary as it sounds, and more

on this movement later, but

suffice to say Banstead

TaeKwon-Do will be helping

those near and dear to increase

their health and fitness with a

prescribed amount of daily

activity...

JUNE 2010 - SELF IMPROVEMENT 1 REP AT A TIMEGreat month for TaeKwon-Do in Banstead, more interest in the school, a demonstration and the introduction of creating a healthy daily habit.

With academic school exams of various levels taking an impact

on attendance the lucky few who were unaffected by such

stressors were able to take advantage of a reduced

Instructor:Student ratio. Those students learned some more

technical application of their movements and some great

progressions in body weight exercises.

We had been invited to perform a demonstration at the Warren

Mead School’s Summer Fair - we gladly performed so a big

thanks to Mrs Wilhoft for asking us

and a big thanks to all those

students who turned up to help.

Here’s looking forward to a great

summer of TKD.

Daily Prescribed Activity - Make A Good Habit

Rannoch Donald, a friend of mine based in Scotland, runs

SimpleStrength.com and Kettlebells

Scotland. One of his blog posts

struck a chord with me, and a

number of other people interested in

activity: you can read his important

post here: http://ow.ly/2cmj5

In summary, he talks about

people making a renewed commitment

to improve their health and fitness but then finding every

excuse imaginable to remain sitting down instead of getting up

and getting stuck in. He talks about progress being made in

small steps and the importance of creating a daily habit.

He refers to our modern daily lives as having reduced

physical effort and that we need daily exercise to replace the

calorie burning, strength building activity that our grandparents

had.

His 100 Rep Challenge (http://

100repchallenge.com/) is about

getting groups of people together for

free exercise practice led by an

enthusiastic person. It is about

instilling a daily ‘challenge’ of doing

100 repetitions of some exercises

every single day. This effort is not that

great at all, it could be anything you choose but the important

thing to take away is the importance of creating a habit of

exercise, habits are hard to form hence the daily challenge.

What do you do?

WARREN MEAD DEMONSTRATIONWe were asked to do a TKD Demonstration at Warren Mead School at

their summer fair. A special thanks to all those who came to show off their

skills - it means a lot to Banstead TaeKwon-Do that you took part but more

importantly you’ve learnt a lot by taking part. You performed your TKD in

front of a large crowd and that’s not easy, well done to:

• Georgia Lou

• Edie

• Conor

• Mahmud

• Sam

• Matt

• Hazel

• Josey

• Big Sam

• Lucy

Check out some photos here: http://ow.ly/2cnjG
