Ang paggamit ng institution ng pamahalaanpara sa pakinabang ng sarili, grupo or ang namumunong partido
Sanofi’s not so clean record
Sanofi’s relabeling: “new” or “knew” knowledge
Conclusions: Although the unexplained higher incidence of
hospitalization for dengue in year 3 among children younger than 3 years
of age needs to be closely monitored during the long term follow-up…
PHASE 3 study of Dr. Capeding completed only in Sept 2017
Paggamit ng mga institution ng Pamahalaan kagaya ng PhilHealth
Not the first time:
DOH and PhilHealth
25 years of Health Care Reform review:
• The poor did not benefit from the 25 years of Health Care Reforms
• “It is mainly the higher income groups who are able to access health care services”
• The major health policy advisers of the DOH during this period - the USAID funded UP School of Econ health economists – conflict of interest again!

Most but not all LGUs look at health simply as medical missions
A few LGUs are addressing the Dengvaxia fiasco
WHO: did WHO endorse Dengvaxia as mass immunization for the Philippines?
WHO’s dependence on Gates Foundation
• Since 1998, Foundation has donated US$2.1 billion in grants
• By 2014 – largest non state funder of the WHO, after the US
Gates Foundation & the Global Alliance for Vaccine & Immunization
GAVI – founded in

Bloomberg.com reported in Jan 1, 2018 a talk by Bill Gates
The Bill & Melinda Gates foundation bought a stake in Anacor
Pharmaceuticals Inc. in 2013 to encourage it to work on neglected
diseases and sold it 3 years later – making a return of 17%!
Medical Doctors’ statement on the Dengvaxia controversy:
“The only way to continue to prevent deadly epidemics of these infectious diseases is to sustain a high rate of vaccination in our population.”
• Granted, some vaccines have been effective in addressing some infectious diseases: smallpox, polio, measles (our present EPI)
• But the P3.5B Dengvaxia? Is it the only way? Or the most effective way ?
Health in the hands of the people
WHO Alma Ata Primary Health Care
• Health not just the absence of Disease
• Health inequities rooted in social inequities are not acceptable
• Health as a human right
• Government responsibility
• People’s right and duty to participate
• Socio-economic development is key to Health for ALL
People’s oversight on health
Broaden people’s coalition from the Dengvaxia issue to oversight on health and health care
Demand Free Health Care for Dengvaxia immunized children to Free health care for “Dengvaxia” families to Free Health Care for ALL Filipinos based on citizenship and NOT enrollment in PhilHealth
Organized and empowered communities as a foundation to safeguarding our health
Sino ang magmamalasakit sa ating kalusugan
at kapakanan kung hindi tayo, mulat at
organizado at kumikilos?
