The 42nd annual Peanut Valley Festival in Portales, scheduled for Oct. 17-18 at the Roosevelt County Fair- grounds, is seeking vendors, sponsors and committee members. “We want to make sure everyone knows the show will go on as scheduled de- spite the budget crunch that will close the Fairgrounds after the Roosevelt County Fair later this month,” said Chamber Executive Director Karl Terry. “The county has allowed us an exemption to the closure but the costs for putting on the event will go up,” he said. Terry said there will con- tinue to be no admission charged for the show, which features arts and crafts ven- dors, food, music and con- tests. He said the event has grown steadily since moving to the fairgrounds and staff is working hard to get even more vendors and activities involved this year. Vendors of all sorts are welcome and can register by calling the Chamber at 356- 8541 or online under the Peanut Festival tab in the calendar at the Chamber’s website portales.com. Early bird discounted registration continues through Sept. 16. Terry said the Peanut Fes- tival Committee will meet at 12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 at the Chamber with pizza available for those in attend- ance. Anyone willing to serve on the committee or groups (other than vendor booths) wishing to be a part of the event are welcome. Terry said bands and en- tertainment acts wanting to perform this year should contact him at 356-8541.
