Art Show
An exhibition of student art is an opportunity for our community to enjoy
the creativity of our students and engage with their learning. Student
Art exhibitions are an integral part of our curriculum where we provide
an opportunity for student’s artistic achievements to be recognised. It is
through this demonstration that we are able to gain an insight into how
our students are thinking critically and creatively about their world.
Visual Arts teacher Rachel Warren, has supported our students in
developing their artistic skills and encouraging them to represent that
learning in a way that we can all admire and celebrate.
As a community we are now reaping the benefits of the students
learning by coming together and celebrating their achievement. By
auctioning these incredible pieces of work we are fulfilling the
requirement of creating work for a purpose and all monies raised will go
towards further supporting our exceptional visual arts program.
Congratulations to Rachel and our students for presenting an amazing
exhibition for presentation to our community.

Assistant Principal’s Report
Art Show
Throughout this year the Korumburra Primary School students have
been exploring the 'Elements of Art’ (line, shape, form, space,
texture, value, and colour). These elements are the building blocks
for composing a piece of art.
Each class has created collaborative artworks with a focus on one
or more of these elements for our schools 2018 Art Exhibition and
Art Auction. Many of the images in this fun collection have been
influenced by the vibrant artworks of Aboriginal Artist Bronwyn
Bancroft as well as joyful scenes inspired from our environment
such as the hills, beach, wildlife, gardens, farm lands and farm
animals.
Some of our Year 6 students have also had the opportunity to work
alongside Karmai Community Childcare Centre's Kindergarten
students to assist them in creating wonderful art works that are also
proudly displayed at our Art Exhibition and Art Auction.
KPS and KCCC children have enthusiastically given their own
creative energy, skills and ideas toward each collaborative art work.
I am very proud of the high quality of art they have produced. We
encourage you to come and enjoy our 2018 Art Exhibition and Art
Auction ‘Elements of Art’. During your visit, remember to look for the
elements of line, shape, form, space, texture, value and colour, as
they allow you to analyse and appreciate art with greater confidence
and understanding.
Term 4
Here we are, Week 2 in Term 4 already! We hope everyone had a
fantastic break and enjoyed the sunshine over the Term 3 School
Holidays. It was great to hear from some of the students in regards
to their ‘exciting adventures’… although it made my break feel
rather dull in comparison! There were certainly lots of smiling faces
at our assembly last week and I know I am not the only one looking
forward to a fantastic Term 4 ahead!
Some Key Dates this Term
Some exciting things coming up this term include… the Bike Ed
Regional Finals next Wednesday 24th October. Congratulations to
those students who made the team! The Year 2 Sleepover is taking
place next Thursday 25th October. The Prep Zoo Excursion then
follows on Friday 26th October. The Year 5 Melbourne Camp runs
from Wednesday 7th November to Friday 9th November. Year 1 and
2 will visit the Museum on the 7th November. The P-2 Swimming
Program starts Week 4 this term. The Year 4 Bike Ed Program, the
Soiree, the HPV trip to Maryborough and of course the Year 6
Graduation just to name a few! Please also remember we have a
Pupil Free Day coming up on Monday 5th November, before the
Melbourne Cup Day Public Holiday on Tuesday 6th November.
Students are NOT expected at school on these days and the school
will be closed.
2019 Prep Transition Program
Our 2019 Prep Transition Program kicks off tomorrow between 9.15
– 10.45am. The 2019 Preps will get the chance to visit and explore
our prep classrooms here at KPS, whilst this year’s preps spend
some time with the Year 5 students, participating in a range of
student led activities. During this time, there will be an information
session for our 2019 parents, providing information around uniforms
and completing forms. We look forward to seeing everyone then.
Year 3 Phillip Island Camp
Next Wednesday 24th October, students will be heading off for the
night on the Year 3 Phillip Island Camp. Can parents please ensure
all the relevant paperwork has been completed, returned to
classroom teachers and payments are up to date. If you have any
questions or require any further assistance, please do not hesitate
to contact either your child’s classroom teacher or one of our
friendly staff in the office. I hope everyone enjoys camp and I look
forward to spending the night there on Wednesday, providing there
is no snoring!
Sun Smart Policy
Please do not forget that in Term 4 all students are required to wear
a SCHOOL BLUE BROAD RIMMED hat during Recess and Lunch
times (and also during sporting activities). School hats are available
for purchase from Burra Sports and please ensure hats are labelled
clearly with your child’s name. Although it has been a rather wet
week, we are still expecting all students to have their hats on at
school when outside from now on. Children who do not have hats
must sit under the shelter outside the entrance to the Gymnasium at
Recess and Lunchtime.
Arriving at School on Time
Thank you to parents who ensure their children arrive at school on
time. Teachers instruction to the students at the beginning of the
day is crucial for setting the scene for the learning that will occur
throughout the day. Research indicates that a settled beginning to a
school day greatly enhances the child’s potential for learning.
Supervision Times at School
Also a reminder that students are supervised here at school
between 8:45am (8.30am for bus travellers) and 3:45pm. We ask
that students are dropped off and picked up as close to these
supervision times as possible please.
