Assessment Centre Standards Working Group Who are we? We are a group of practitioners and academics with relevant expertise and a commitment to improving assessment centre practice. What have we achieved? We developed a new assessment centre standard to support best practice and enable organisations to run centres more effectively. Why is this important? Here are some findings from a survey of assessment centre practitioners* 50% of assessors said they had insufficient time to evaluate and score candidates quite often or more frequently. 25% of assessment centre designers experienced assessors not being given the opportunity to practice evaluation of exercises before they went live. 50% of assessors said wash-ups were rushed due to lack of time quite often or more frequently. 50% of candidates said they received insufficient feedback from the assessment centre. What is there for me? To view the standards go to www.bps.org.uk/dop/acswg and follow the links. They can be freely downloaded and used in your practice. Let us know how you get on integrating the standards into your practice. E-mail your thoughts to [email protected], with ‘Assessment Centre Working Group’ in the title field. Leave your contact details or e-mail them to [email protected], so we can include you in our market research to gauge interest in further developments from the standard. Where Now? We would like your views on where we should go next. Please leave your contact details if we can talk to you about your interest in: Accreditation of assessment centre processes against the standards. Accreditation of competence against the standards. Accreditation of service delivery against the standard. * Dewberry, C. (2014). Assessment centres: Robust measurement machines or complex social-administrative systems?
