NAIDOC Celebrations Next week we will be hosting the NAIDOC celebrations with a big line- up of activities organised by our Aboriginal Education Team. An invitation to parents and community is included with this bulletin. Part of our celebrations will be our NAIDOC Assembly on Thursday 27th June which will conclude with the opening of our memorial for Aunty Louise at the front of our Community Hubb Ngurang Yindymarra where our Bro Speak boys along with Peter Little have been busy constructing a native garden and artist Tyronne Hoerler has painted tribal poles naming the area “Aunty Louise’s Yarnin’ Place”. CHORDS Cluster Rehearsal On Wednesday our primary choir will travel to Turvey Park Public School to take part in a combined school’s rehearsal for the Choral and Dance Spectacular- CHORDS performance to be held in Term 4 at the Civic Theatre Wagga. Year 5 & 6 Team Building session Last week Mount Austin Clontarf boys came to visit APS to facilitate a sporting and team building session with our Year 5 & 6 boys. This forms part of our extended transition to High school program. Students participated in football drills.

Tug-o-war and a touch game. Students were very active and built peer relationships with the high school students. Thank you to Pat Edmunds and Nathan Rose from Mount Austin High for this experience.

Dance Workshops Last Friday Jarryd Bryne from Dancing with the Stars facilitated hip hop workshops for all students.

Student’s from K-6 learnt a choreographed dance, sequenced dance moves together and performed what they had learnt so far. Students thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Family and community members will be able to see our hip

hop dancing later on in the year. These are wonderful experiences that Ashmont Public School offers all students.
