Christian Stewardship: A Way of Life Palm Sunday The Palm Sunday name comes from the XI century tradition of the blessing of palms in liturgy we remember the joyful entrance of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem. The crowd welcomes Him with the words “Hosanna to the Son of David.” It is the beginning of Holy Week. From now on our thoughts and prayers will take us to the final moments of Jesus Christ being among us. The joy of Palm Sunday will slowly move towards the passion and death of our Savior. During the Holy Mass, we read the Passion of Jesus Christ that prepares us to be open to the Mystery of Salvation. Lent is almost over. Christian Stewardship: A Way of Life

Palm Sunday

The Palm Sunday name comes from the XI century tradition of the blessing of palms – in liturgy we remember the joyful entrance of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem.

Fasting, almsgiving and prayers are supposed to help you to achieve some spiritual growth and understanding. So before you move to those last days, you have to ask yourself one question: what will be left in me after these 40 days?

Garden Notes…

Spirit Gardens at Pax Christi - The new gardening season is almost here! It’s time to remind all gardeners who want to get a plot ready for the new season that plots are available. Each plot rents for $40.00 per season to cover the cost of water. Payment due by May 1st. Most plots measure 12’ x 12’ and that is plenty of room to grow some great vegetables or flowers!

We will plan on having a “kick off the season” meeting the latter part of April to answer questions and to help folks prepare their plots. Remember, please, that everyone’s help is needed to keep the weeds in check. The weeds are the responsibility of the gardeners. If you are interested in a plot, Bayard Breeding at [email protected]. Hope to see many of you soon!

Spring Clean-Up - Clean-up of the parish grounds is scheduled for Saturday, May 6th from 8:00 a.m. -

Noon. Please bring shovels, rakes, pruning shears, gardening gloves, etc. RSVP to Joanne.

Eucharistic Adoration

Adoration is a sign of devotion to and worship of Jesus Christ. The Chapel is now open from 6:45am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday for quiet Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration and Confession are also available in the Chapel on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30pm.

There is a small door on the front of the tabernacle which can be opened to expose the Blessed Sacra-ment with a glass cover to protect it.

Please be respectful of other adorers in the Chapel by quietly entering the space. If you are the only adorer in the Chapel, please close the tabernacle door before you leave. Thank you.

Let Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament speak to

your hearts. It is he who is the true answer of life

that you seek. ~ St. John Paul II

Holy Land Collection...Our diocese is called on to support Christians in the Holy Land on Good Friday, April 14th. Through this collection, you join with Catholics from around the world to stand in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, your support helps the church minister in parishes provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees. Our diocese will support Christians in the Holy Land through the Good Friday Col-lection, as requested by Pope Francis. Like Simon of Cyrene, you can help carry the cross under very difficult circumstances in the Holy Land. Please be as generous as your abundance allows.

40 Days for Life

“For it was Y ou who created my being, knit me together in my mother’s womb. I thank you for the wonder of my being, for the wonders of all your creation.” Psalm 139:13-14

Planned Parenthood kills nearly 324,000 babies per year through abortions. On March 1st, 40 Days for Life began its spring campaign to convince mothers and fathers who are faced with difficult circumstances to choose life for their unborn babies. The approach is to offer help and hope through prayer, fasting and peaceful prayer demonstration in front of Planned Parenthood facilities. We are asking our parishioners to help with this mission in three ways.

1. Please check the parish website each day for the 40 Days for Life devotional and take a few minutes to pray for the intention of that day. Go to www.paxchristi.org/home/news/ and click on Knights of Columbus Events.

2. Please consider fasting from something (food, tv, coffee, etc.) one day a week during Lent for the unborn and their parents.

3. Set aside one day during Lent in which you can join others in prayer outside Planned Parenthood. Seeing that people are there praying for them is one of the most effective ways to convince mothers of the value and preciousness of God’s little life growing in their wombs.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you to consider participating in this important mission.

Our Usher Ministry Needs Your Help: Ushers are available to assist at all liturgical functions. The duties of an usher are to greet people, guide parishioners to Communion, and help with collections. It’s a great opportunity for families to minister together. Because ushers work with youth, Safe Environment training and background checking is mandated by our Diocese. See training schedule on Page 2.

We specifically need ushers for the Saturday and Sunday 5:00 p.m.

Masses. Time commitment is one Mass per month with training “on

the job”.

Please contact Katey Dempsey at [email protected] if you have questions or are interested in volunteering.

J.O.Y. Ministry

If you would like to give of yourself to residents in need for 1½ to 2 hours once or twice a month, please contact Ann Inson at 303-663-4396 or [email protected].

Bible Blast! A fun and educational family Bible program

Land, from Jerusalem to Babylon and back? • Do you want to follow Paul on his missionary journeys?

Then come and join us!

We would like to start a family Bible program in the fall that will take us through the whole salvation history in one year, from Genesis to Revelations. This is a program that you can do with all of your kiddos (ages 4 to 14). We will meet weekly at church with your children to quiz and reinforce what you read during the week from the Picture Bible.

We need to know if you are interested! Please contact Gaelle or Gabriel Commeau by Sunday, April 30th at [email protected]. We will host an information meeting in May for those interested.

Gospel Reflection

Sunday Mass has three scripture readings plus a psalm. Are you able to determine the connection each week?

On Friday morning after Mass a group of us meets to discuss the readings and gain insight into how they connect. We would welcome more attendees. Look for us in the Great Hall. We have extra copies of the readings for your use. If you can't come each Friday, come as often as you can.

Project Care

An injury, illness, a birth or death in the family: any of these circumstances or a host of others may leave you with too many responsibilities and not enough time.

If you find yourself wishing that din-ner would prepare itself, Project Care would like to help. This ministry is available to provide meals to parish-ioners in times of need. We want to help you. If you are in need, please call the Parish Office and your request will be forwarded to this dedicated group of angels.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Pax Christi

**Vincentians Needed**

Who we are and what we do…

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Pax Christi are parishioners (or

“Vincentians” as we call ourselves) that serve the poor and needy in our area. We meet once a month and also volunteer to go out on occasional home visits.

We help with rent, food and utilities and also provide resources for addi-tional services to those in need.

It may not be easy to see them, but there are families and individuals throughout Douglas County and our surrounding area who are in desperate need of our love and support. Despite the prosperity of our community, pov-erty and pain are all around us. Often, St. Vincent de Paul is a lifeline for people struggling to survive. In the spirit of Christ, who leads our minis-try, we help our neighbors based on need – without judgment.

If you would like to share your time

and talents with this ministry,

please contact us at

[email protected].

Lunch Bunch

Pope Francis said "Among us, who is above must be in service of the others.

This doesn't mean we have to wash

each other's feet every day, but we

must help one another."

That's what the Lunch Bunch is all about—helping others by making lunches for the inhabitants of Samari-tan House. By joining this ministry you will be scheduled to make 12 lunches two times yearly. Lunch Bunch is a great way to show your children how to be in service to oth-ers. Contact Carmen McDermott at [email protected] with questions or to join this worthwhile ministry.

The Catholic Legacy Society was created to honor our legacy donors who have named their parish, Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs as a beneficiary in their will or trust, retirement account, charitable gift annuity or charitable trust, life insurance policy, or through the establishment of an endowed fund.

The Diocese is grateful to acknowledge these special benefactors during their lifetimes. And, in conjunc-tion with our mission, this special society provides an opportunity for benefactors to make their philanthropy a perpetual legacy for themselves and an example for their families. It also creates an infrastructure of support that makes our parishes, schools and ministries stronger, sustainable and better equipped to reach future generations.

If you have named your parish, a Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs in your estate plan, or are considering doing so, we invite you to become a member of the Catholic Legacy Society.
