Introduction
Founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, Apple Inc. is an American multinational technology company with an iconic status. Apple designs, manufactures, and markets smartphones, personal computers, portable digital music players, and media devices. It sells a range of related software and services, networking solutions, accessories, and third-party digital content and applications. [1]
Apple’s hardware products have seen tremendous worldwide success over the years. They include devices such as the Mac personal computer, the iPhone (smartphone), the iPad (tablet computer), the Apple Watch (smartwatch), the Apple TV (digital media player), the HomePod (smart speaker), and the the iPod (portable media player). The company's consumer software includes operating systems such as iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, the Safari web browser, the iTunes media player, and the iWork and iLife creativity and productivity suites. Its online services include the iTunes Store (the world's largest music retailer), the iOS App Store and Mac App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, Apple Pay, and a range of accessory, service, and support offerings. Headquartered in Cupertino, California, Apple maintains 498 retail stores in 22 countries. Its worldwide annual revenue totalled $229 billion for the 2017 fiscal year. In November 2017, the company’s market capitalization crossed US $900 billion. Apple is currently the world’s largest technology company by revenue and the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer after Samsung. [2]
