Transfer of files between the BB and pc is easier if you treat the BB as a flash drive

Maintain a separate listing of any passwords or license/registration numbers for any applications you purchase—you’ll have them if you must do a reinstall (of course you can purchase a password program to manage this!)

Start moving icons around by highlighting an icon and then pressing the menu button—then begin the “move” process
