ANNUAL REPORT

2013

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORRemembering all that came to pass during 2013, we know God was watching over and blessing the Good Samaritan Health Center of Gwinnett. We exceeded all our goals, but we take no credit for our achievements; nothing was accomplished by our own wisdom or strength. Everything was of God, and we praise Him for causing our ministry to flourish yet another year and using us so remarkably to fulfill His plans. All of us—staff, students, and volunteers—are honored to have a role in delivering healthcare to the uninsured and sharing the hope of the Gospel with our brethren. To God goes the glory, and unto His will, may we continue in the pursuits of this ministry for years to come, to heal the sick and use that encounter to introduce His creation into a lifesaving relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

This publication is both a report of our recent activities and a request for your help to expand the Good Samaritan ministry. We have reached the physical limits of our office and parking lot and must relocate to a larger site to safely provide for those who come to us each day, and to enable growth in several key program areas, particularly charity dental care. We want to be the backbone of charity medical and dental care for Gwinnett and surrounding communities, we want to be that solely for the glory of God, and we want you to join us in this worthy endeavor.

We thank you for your support, labors and prayers, and we pray that you be blessed in abundance so that you might bless with abandon.

Gregory E. Lang, PhD

I cannot remember a better time than this for the church to rise up and serve the increasing needs of our community. Christians, we simply cannot say we are now doing enough and let the world do the rest.”

The Mission of the Good Samaritan Health Center of Gwinnett is to demonstrate the love of Christ in word and deed by providing affordable and accessible healthcare services to the indigent and working poor.

Our Purpose is to glorify God through meeting the general medical needs of our patients as well as their spiritual needs through prayer and biblical counseling.

Heal the sick who are there and tell them, “The kingdom of God is near you.”

-Luke 10:9

We pray every day before we begin our work, asking God to guide our efforts and bless our patients, volunteers and staff.

We utilize volunteer medical providers in order to keep our costs low, making it possible to charge our patients significantly discounted fees for our services.

We accept medical, nursing, pharmacy and other student healthcare professionals as interns, making it possible to help train rising medical providers in a compassionate Christian setting, helping to grow within them a heart for medical ministry work.

OUR METHODS

We enter into partnerships in the medical community to maximize convenient and affordable access to other necessary services for our patients.

We partner with churches to provide a venue for deploying their members into sacrificial service for the Kingdom.

We provided 10,121 patient visits to 6,419 unique individuals during 2013 (1,937 were new patients), marking a 73% increase in demand for our services compared to 2012. Overall, we have provided the community with 42,168 medical appointments since our opening in 2005. With the help of your contributions to the Samaritan Fund, we were able to provide 287 appointments valued at $80,360 for free or nearly free to the deeply impoverished. We mentored 261 students of the healthcare profession, raising up future medical missionaries to serve the poor and uninsured of our communities. With the help of your contributions, we were able to obtain more than 2,400 brand medication prescriptions for our patients. We submitted our application seeking National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). If approved, we will become the only free-standing charity medical practice in GA to receive such recognition.
