Alumni and Friends,

How quickly the sum-mer passes. Here we are in July and prepara-tions for the fall semes-ter are well under way. In the last issue of The

Blue Streak, I reported on our strategic planning for the College and I am hap-py to announce the action of the Board of Trustees reaffirming the College Mis-sion, Vision, and College Goals for the next five years. The Board also took action to establish the strategic direction and initiatives to guide us toward ful-filling the mission. These are listed be-low. The College leadership, faculty, and staff will establish action plans over the next few months to specifically achieve these initiatives. I believe this strategic plan will take us to a new level for our new college and prepare us for the next round of accreditations. Thank you to all who participated in the survey that helped determine this strategic plan. Mission

The Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science identifies itself as a spe-cialized college of higher education commit-ted to educating men and women for careers in nursing and other health-related fields in the greater Cincinnati region. The College is a private, Catholic institution that fulfills its mission by addressing the needs of quali-fied students of differing interests, plans, expectations and ages. Vision

To be the regional leader in providing nurs-ing and health care education in a unique Catholic and hospital-based college environ-ment. College Goals The following goals express the values for which we strive:

Emphasize a Christian value orientation to life.

Create a caring environment that allows each individual to feel personally satisfied and reach his/her fullest potential.

Promote academic excellence.

Embrace excellence in the practice of nursing.

Serve the community.

Graduate a student who embodies the traditions and reputation of the College.

Foster in each graduate an ongoing com-mitment to the experience of learning and to this educational institution.

Strategic Direction and Initiatives Students

GSC will provide programs and services that optimize student success and address the real needs of students.

Academics GSC will provide a high-quality academic environment.

Knowledge GSC will be an exemplary model of a learning-focused institution.

Personnel GSC will improve professional develop-ment, faculty scholarship, and the work environment and processes.

Environment GSC will address internal needs (facilities, technology, capacity and access, opera-tions) and external challenges (marketing, environmental scanning, competition).

Partnerships GSC will have productive and mutually beneficial relationships with the commu-nity, higher education organizations, busi-ness (health care), local schools, and re-gional colleges and universities.

Resources GSC will obtain grants and build upon private fundraising and public support.

Each year at this time, I write an annual report for the Board of Trustees and some of our accrediting agencies. This report gives an overview of our accom-plishments for the year. You may view this report on the web site: www.GSCollege.edu

Throughout this edition of The Blue Streak, you will read about the many activities of the alumni and the stu-dents. It takes dedicated faculty, staff, alumni and students pulling together each year to make the College a success. I thank all of you for your involvement and hard work throughout the year. Sincerely,

Morris Cohen, President

Successful 2007 Annual Fund Campaign

I am happy to report good news! The 2007 Annual Fund is a success! We have col-lected more than $119,000, surpassing our goal of $110,000! How did we achieve this? Our success is a result of the generosity of fellow alumni, and the hard work of the volunteers and staff. Many components play a part, but the Phonathon, when students and alum call all graduates for support, made our goal a reality! Thank You to all to pledged, and to all who worked so hard on this project! The money received will be used to support student scholarships, staff development and college resources. Look for the listing of our generous donors in the next issue of The Blue Streak.

Thanks!
