In Europe, Regulation (EC) No. 1831/2003 on additives for use in animal nutrition sets out detailed rules for the approval of feed additives. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is responsible for all new fee d ingredie nt approvals in Canada. All ingredients for use in livestock feed must be listed in Schedule IV or V of the Feeds Regulations  (1983).
