Few countries can match the variety of Great Britain’s attractions. Its rich history stretches through its kings and queens to the Industrial

Revolution, the British Empire to the cosmopolitan nation it is today. From picturesque villages and historic towns to rolling countryside and dynamic cities, it leads the world in art, music and culture, as well as boasting renowned landmarks, museums, festivals and sporting events. Historic cities such as York, Canterbury, Cambridge and Bath are famous for their cathedrals and universities, while Sandringham is known for its stately house where the Royal Family spends Christmas each year. Bristol is home to the SS Great Britain, once the largest ship in the world, while the rolling hills of Sussex and the South Coast on a sunny day are a sight rarely matched.

ON BOARDChapter Two

Step aboard the elegant carriages of Belmond British Pullman and you will be whisked away to a timeless age of travel

The Golden Age of Travel is evoked in all its glory aboard the beautiful Belmond British Pullman, whose “family” also includes the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Immaculate art deco interiors and delicious gastronomic fare combine to create an unforgettable experience. Behind the refined umber and cream livery, the interiors of each of our 11 carriages are dazzlingly different. With names such as Audrey, Vera and Minerva and individually designed marquetry, they once formed part of a historic luxury train and each has its own story to tell: some carriages were used by royalty, others took part in the Festival of Britain or starred in movies. The stunning wood panelling in our carriages was restored by the

Dunn family, experts in the rare craft of marquetry. Today, Cheryl Dunn uses the same tools and methods as her father and grandfather, who worked on many of the original carriages, to bring the beautiful panels back to life.

Menus feature the finest seasonal British produce, from guinea fowl and sea bream to smoked salmon and magnificent cheeses, all expertly prepared by our Executive Head Chef and his team. Drinks are similarly delectable: as well as Champagne Laurent-Perrier and sommelier-selected wines, we are proud to serve tea from Cornwall’s Tregothnan Estate, the only place in England with the perfect climate for growing Camellia sinensis bushes.

Our booking conditions apply to the trips described in this brochure. These conditions are available on request by calling your nearest Reservation Office from the following locations:UK: 0845 077 2222 +44 (0)203 117 1300 US: +1 800 524 2420 (toll free) Singapore: +65 6395 0678 or online: belmond.com/termsandconditions

Our booking conditions contain important limitations and exclusions of liability. Please read them before we confirm your booking. Adequate travel insurance is vital. Details of a policy suitable to cover the arrangements you book are available from an advisor at RHG Insurance Brokers on +44 (0)1438 345714 or +44 (0)1438 345719 (please quote “VSOE Travel” when calling). We provide financial security for flight-inclusive Packages (a “Package” exists if you book a pre-arranged combination of at least two of the following components when sold or offered for sale at an inclusive price and when the service covers a period of more than 24 hours or includes overnight accommodation: (a) transport; (b) accommodation; (c) other tourist services not ancillary to transport or accommodation and accounting for a significant proportion of the Package) and ATOL protected flights by way of a bond held by the Civil Aviation Authority under ATOL number 3141.

Your Financial Protection: when you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This

lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong.

We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme.

Not all holiday or travel services offered and sold by us will be protected by the ATOL scheme. Protection for all Packages not including flights is provided by means of a separate trust account in which all monies paid to us in respect of a Package will be held until the Package in question has been completely performed. Non-Package arrangements and arrangements not booked or departing from the UK are not protected by these arrangements.

On certain trips a minimum number of persons is required for the tour to take place. We will notify passengers at least 56 days before departure if a trip is cancelled for this reason. The applicable deposit (15% unless otherwise stated) must be paid to us when you book (or if booking within 56 days of departure, full payment must be made on booking).

If there are fewer than 12 passengers in your party, and if you have made your booking more than 56 days before departure and have paid a deposit to secure your booking, the balance of the cost of your arrangements (including any applicable surcharge) is due not less than 56 days prior to scheduled departure. If there are 12 or more passengers in your party, payments must be made as follows: 15% of the cost of your arrangements is payable on booking, a further 35% of such cost (including any applicable surcharge) is due 90 days before departure (if your booking is made between 90 and 56 days before departure).

If your booking is made less than 56 days before departure, you will be required to pay the entire cost of your arrangements at the time of your booking. If we do not receive (in cleared funds) the balance in full and on time, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you, in which case cancellation charges will become payable. Cancellation charges apply in the event you or any member of your party cancels a confirmed booking. These charges will increase the closer to your departure date that you notify us of a cancellation.

We regret we are unable to offer you any assistance if you are delayed at the outward or homeward points of departure. Non-UK passport holders, including other EU nationals, should obtain up-to-date advice on passport and visa requirements from the Embassy, High Commission or Consulate of your destination or country(ies) through which they are travelling.
