Panel looking at how many varsity grads Singapore can

support

Committee is considering whether Singapore’s economy can

support more degree holders.

Can the economy can generate sufficient degree-level jobs in the

future?

the kind of degree-level competencies that are required for these

jobs ?

how university places be expanded while maintaining quality?

Singapore – Universities Places

Singapore Institute of Tech : 5th varsity

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), which partners overseas

universities will become Singapore's fifth university.

It should be practice-oriented and closely linked to industry.

It should also offer programs that combine work and study.

SIT, with its practical bent, could be a 'possible platform' for this

applied university model.

Singapore will raise tuition fees by around 2% to 7% for the next

academic year

Increases were due to the increased cost of providing a quality

education

Polytechnics and ITE, the fee increase will affect new and

existing students

Universities increases will affect only incoming students

University fees will have more frequent but smaller fee increases

rather than a hefty hike every few years
