PRO GREENS made interventions in schools to increase the fruit and vegetableintake among children.)

Temporary advisor WHO Europe, Overweight prevalence 2006-2007(In this project I was asked to help gather data on overweight prevalencein all the 53 partner countries in the WHO European Region. This took place through gathering data through country representatives and also bydoing an extensive search on published papers in the area and led to the production of a chapter on prevalence of obesity in Europe in preparation for the Ministerial meeting in Istanbul in 2006 and a finalized chapter in a WHO publication “The Challenge of Obesity in Europe and Strategies for Prevention”. This was done within my work at Karolinska Institutet.)

Co-ordinator for the project JOBNUT, with the aim of investigatingThe Labour market for public health nutritionists in Europe(EU DG Education and Culture) 2006-2008(This project was the core of a later PhD Thesis, which was defended in 2013 by my student Susanna Kugelberg, who was the international liaison officer for this project and collected information through qualitative methods such as semi-structured interviews and text analysis from historical documents on nutrition policy.)

Coordinator for the project PHETICE (EU DG SANCO), with the aim of Co-ordinating Public Health Training programmes in the EU 2005-2008(This project was distinctly asked for by the European Commission, and meant a coordination of the previously funded five European Master Programmes on Gerontology, Public Health Nutrition, Health Promotion, Epidemiology and Public Health. to introduce elements of monitoring and to highlight equity in trainingprogrammes. This project was initially coordinated by ProfessorLeif Svanström at the Department of Public Health at Karolinska Institutet, with me as member of steering committee but was in the last one and a half years moved to myself as coordinator at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition at Karolinska Institutet. The project was successfully finalized in 2008.)

Co-ordinator for the project EUNUTNET, (EU DG SANCO),With the task to co-ordinate a European Network in Public Health Nutrition, regarding Monitoring, Training and Promotion 2003-2007(This project was the largest networking project that I have been responsible for. It led to the development of Guidelines for breast-feeding support and promotion, launched in Barcelona in 2008, to a report on successful promotion of fruit and vegetables, health-enhancing physical activity and how to deal with monitoring of physical activity. It also led to continued development of trainingprogrammes in public health nutrition over Europe, involving 13 universities.)

Swedish Steering Group Representative and Partner in the European Breastfeeding promotion project (EU DG SANCO) 2002-2004

(This project led to the Blueprint for Action on Breastfeeding Promotionin Europe, a document which was launched at a ceremony in Dublin Castle in 2004, during the Irish presidency.)

Swedish Centre within the DAFNE project (EU DG SANCO) 2002-2004(This project included gathering of household budget data on foodpurchasing and storage from several countries in Europe and to one publication from the large DAFNE network, coordinated fromMedical School, University of Athens, Greece.)

Director WHO Collaborating Centre in Public Health Nutrition (WHO Euro) at The Department of Medical Nutrition,

Karolinska Institutet. 1996-2000(This work involved development and leading of courses in public health nutrition, developed and run in collaboration with other WHO CCs and with medical academies all over the newly independent states in Eastern Europe. Five summer schools were run with me as course leader, in Poland (University of Warzaw), Lithuania (Medical Academy in Kaunas) and in Russia (Arkhangelsk region). Most of these courses were run already before the WHO CC at Karolinska Institutet was appointed (1992-1996). The work as WHO CC Director also involved collaboration and yearly meetings with other WHO CCs around Europe and with the WHO/CINDI network, with colleagues at universities in Canada, Finland, Slovenia and Spain as well as with several Medical Academies in Russia. The Russian collaboration alsoincluded invitations to several training and collaboration meetings, in Elektrostal, Moscow three times, Chelyabinsk, Mirny and in Kiev, Ucraine twice, Sofia Bulgaria twice. Later on, several Eastern European students took courses within the Master courses in public health nutrition at Karolinska Institutet, mostly Physicians from Medical Academies inMoscow, Chelyabinsk, Kiev, Warzaw, Kaunas, Tallin, Sofia and Minsk. For Eastern European students, we applied and received for funding for their stay in Sweden from different sources, among others from Stockholm Care, Lions Club, Private beneficiaries and from the local community of Huddinge.)
