AFTER MASS

Synopsis

It was Independence Day when Kate was being kidnapped together with the

President, killing the reporter of a TV station.

Mark Eibarramendia woke up in a hospital in Intramuros having a head wound

that lead him to forget all the recent memories that happened in his life that even his

girlfriend, Yumi, he cannot remember. Upon release, Yumi brought Mark to the Fort

Santiago trying to help Mark remembered everything. But in the midst of recollection,

for the second time, Mark meet John Pecson whom he cannot also recognize. John was a

stranger he met a year ago during his first date with Yumi at Intramuros. John asked for

Marks help to find the kidnapper of Kate, Johns girlfriend, after sending him a picture

taken in a dungeon - her stripped-clothed unconscious girlfriend was hanged in the

ceiling of the dark place - and a paper where a poem was written a poem allegedly

came from Makamisa (After Mass) the third book of Rizal which is known as anunfinished novel, but in fact it was already finished and was just hidden by the first

president, Aguinaldo, in the dungeon somewhere in Intramuros after being retrieved

from Bonifacios body. In Makamisa, the poem was made by the ancient secret society of

the Philippines IL Secularis which states that every hour, starting 1pm; a bomb will

explode destroying one important landmark and ends at 4pm. After a few minutes,

Mark's friends arrived. But again, he did not recognize them. It was Johan, Yanie, Kat,

Karen, Tal, and AJ. They were surprised that Mark has returned too early after visiting

Vatican City with Jhea wherein Mark's arrival was supposed to be this day. Upon hearing

that Mark suffered from amnesia, they introduce themselves and befriend Mark again.

They have discussed what is happening and AJ, the editor of Mark's book entitled Trail

to Deception, got a little background about the poem and the IL Secularis wherein the

IL Secularis made the poem as a threat to Catholic Church if they will never accept the

seculars in the society. Mark and John leave the place and started the quest.

Three days before the start of the quest, Marik, a member of IL Secularis, started

to go to the landmarks where he will be planting the bombs. Upon arrival at the church

where he will be planting a bomb, Marik confessed to the priest his entire plan. After the

confession, he shoots the priest, planted the bomb and proceeds to next landmarks.

Mark and John arrived at the Manila City Hall wherein they thought was the first

landmark. The two of them look for symbols but they found nothing, instead, they havenoticed that a painting in the wall was gone. The Mayor meets them and told them that

the painting was the Black Nazarene being carried by the Augustinian Recolletos from

Intramuros to Quiapo. Mark and John proceeded to the Quiapo Church, the first

landmark.

The peaceful place of the masons was distracted by the authorities after the

kidnapping of the President. The authorities planned to investigate the masons because,

right after the President was kidnapped, the 32nddegree mason was also gone. But the

masons refuted. Instead, Professor Jan Galang, Humanities Professor of Mark and AJ,

also a mason, told the masons that they will need the help of an Art Symbologist, and he

knows where they can find them. The Professor told them that it was Mark and AJ. The

Professor leaves going straight to where AJ is.

Mark and John arrived at the first landmark. They saw the lost painting of Quiapo

attached at the side of the Minor Basilica of Nazareno near the underpass. Mark

recognized the painting. It was edited. AJ arrived at the Quiapo not being recognized by

Mark at first. AJ introduced to them her company, Jan Galang. Mark ignored them. He

runs towards the altar distracting the mass just to find the bomb, but he failed. He was

captured and thrown outside where he found the Fire Obelisk that holds the first time

bomb which is now only in seconds. The bomb causes panic and a man fell to Mark

when he was trying to cut the red wire. He accidentally cut the blue wire and the bomb

blacked out. Mark, John, and AJ proceeded to the next landmark, while the professor left

alone. They arrived at the second landmark but they failed to come in time. The bombexploded before they have entered the Manila Cathedral.

Yumi heard the news on TV that the Manila Cathedral exploded when she had an

unexpected visitor. It was Sam, Ashs boyfriend, and kidnapped Yumi. While at FEU,

Yanie was in the class when she had seen a black smoke coming from Intramuros. She

met Johan, Kat, Karen, Tal and Kian outside and inform them about the abomination.

Kian first left to go to AJ, Mark, and John, while Yanie, Karen, Tal, and Johan go to find

Yumi.

Even it is destroyed; Mark pushed inside the Cathedral and tried to find the sign

where it will lead them to the next landmark. The church is collapsing and their life is

almost in danger, but the Professor arrived and saved John and AJ from a falling ceilingwhile a priest, saved Mark after getting a key from the Gates of Heaven Chapel. The

priest had a gunshot. Professor Jan and the priest died. Mark entered the crypt and found

the sign he was looking for. He was almost trapped when he heard an explanation from

AJ that there is still a way out at the crypt hidden in the paintings. Mark found it and

followed the path until he saw himself standing outside the Palacio del Gobernador.

Mark, AJ, and John, followed the sign Mark found at the crypt. It was at Rizal Park. They

rrived at the place and found the bomb easily. It was the Centennial Clock. Mark noticed

that they are not alone. A group of men attacked them, but the police came to help

them. After the exchange of gunshots, the Vice President show himself to Mark and toldhim to stop searching because their life is in danger, when John declares that AJ was

also kidnapped. Mark and John were now unstoppable and force themselves to go to the

last landmark the Fort Santiago.

Yumi found herself hanging in the dungeon in front of the dead body of Kate

after being accidentally shot by Marik. A Spiral Sun and eight flames were drawn in her

stomach. She was not alone, Sam also kidnapped Kian, Karen, and Kat which are the

daughters of the High ranking masons which they called The Four Keys. A man

carrying AJ arrived. Sam hanged AJ at the ceiling and painted the same image at AJs

stomach. Sam explained to Yumi that the guy in the quest was not Mark, instead, it was

Marks brother, Marik. Yumi didnt believe him. She noticed Ash arrived and attacked

Sam with a wood.

A man arrived at the airport. He came from the Vatican together with Jhea. They

heard the news about the happenings and proceeded.

Mark finally remembered everything. He was not Mark. He was Marik. Marik

told John everything the planting of the bombs, the kidnapping, and he, accidentally

kill AJ. The Vice President and the priest whom Marik was raised arrived. They admit

the truth to Marik. John was angered and he almost killed Marik when Mark, Jhea,

Yanie, AJ, Karen, Kat, Tal, Kian, and Johan arrived. Upon revealing the truth, lives were

gone; Yumi, and Mark were shot dead. The priest were stabbed in the neck and died, and

the Vice President killed by his former slave, Marik. The President killed Sam, and

Inspector Garcia arrived. Marik was shot in the legs and he can hardly run while Johnwas still unconscious after being shot in the head. Inspector Garcia and Johan followed

him but he locked himself in the dungeon with the key he got from Manila Cathedral.

Marik discovered Rizals third book, and the bomb. Marik immolate himself together

with the bomb. The bomb explodes and it almost destroyed half of Fort Santiago, but the

bombs in the other important landmarks were saved.

John woke up in a hospital in Intramuros having a head wound that lead him to

forget all the recent memories that happened in his life that even his name, he cannot

remember.. AJ introduced herself to John as his best friend. AJs friends arrived at the

hospital and introduce themselves to John. They are Yanie, Kat, Karen, Kian, Ash, Johan,

Jhea, Tal, Nicole, and Eloise.

The story ended when Mark and Yumi were holding hands at the Manila

Cathedral. Marik and Kate were also there. It is a wedding ceremony lead by the priest

in Manila Cathedral. The Professor, the Vice President, and Sam were there. Marik,

Mark, Yumi, and Kate run outside the cathedral and it turned to four graves with the

name of Mark, Yumi, Marik, and Kate.
