Embracing the cross of Jesus leads to everlasting life. The cross of shame in Jesus’ time has become for us the
sign of victory over sin and death. Through his perfect sac-rifice of love on the cross, Jesus won forgiveness for our sins and defeated the power of sin and evil. By so doing, Jesus transformed the cross from an instrument of death
into the tree of life and source of our salvation.

Anointing of the Sick
Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament that is received by those who are ill or
suffering. By the sacred anointing and the prayer of the priest,
the whole Church commends those who are sick to Christ. With this anointing,
the sick person receives the Holy Spirit’s gifts of strength, faith, peace and courage during their
suffering.
This sacrament used to be called Extreme Unction, or Last Rites, since it was an anointing that was given at
the extreme end of our lives. At Vatican II, the Council emphasized that this anointing was for all Catholics in
poor health, elderly or handicapped in any way.
Because the recipient’s sins are forgiven with the anointing, only a priest or bishop may celebrate the
sacrament.
Did you know, if you or a relative have a scheduled operation planned and want the Anointing of the Sick, the best time to approach a priest with your request is after Mass? The priest will then anoint you. With the
busy schedules our priests have, this would help them tremendously and would ensure that you
receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

WE WILL
CELEBRATE
DIVINE
MERCY
SUNDAY ON
April 23, @ 3:00 pm in the Church. We will celebrate our
Lord’s great mercy poured out on his people. Come gather together
before His presence in the Blessed Sacrament, spend time in
adoration and praise, sing the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and draw
close to the Lord.
Create in Me a Clean Heart shows us how
pornography distracts us from our call to
love by objec!fying people and bringing
hurt and pain. However, "no wound is out
of the reach of Christ's redeeming
grace. The Church proclaims the truth
about love, sexuality, and dignity of each
person, and she seeks to provide the Lord's mercy and healing
for those harmed by pornography. (Holy Week is a good !me
to seek Confession and make Acts of Repara!on.) ...For further
resources and help, visit www.usccb.org/cleanheart."
Our next meeting is April 12, @ 9:30 am in Room 220/FEC.
Praying the Rosary daily fulfills Mary's urgent request during each of her six
appearances at Fatima. As she said in her third apparition, "You must recite the
Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary in order to obtain peace for the
world.” Mary's request is as urgent today as it was a hundred years ago.
PRAY THE ROSARY DAILY. If you cannot make rosaries, please consider making a
donation to the Rosary Makers. For more information, call Mary at 638-2747.
Come and join us for fun and fellowship.
We meet on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm in Room #215 / FEC.
We would love to meet you! For more information, please call
Lucille at 352.323.1853 or Carol at 352.638.9179.

Register now for San Pedro’s
Summer Camp!
Registration is open for San Pedro’s Summer Camp, “Heart of the Gospel”. Students are invited to join an amazing journey this summer to dive into the heart of the Gospels, uncovering God’s Truths that will transform their
lives!
At San Pedro Summer Camp, campers trade the distractions (and tech) of daily life for a week of faith, friends and fun! They become immersed in faith through the sacraments and prayer.
They build lifelong friendships through the fun of low ropes course, archery and giant slip and slide. They encounter Christ through well-trained young adult counselors who infectiously spread their love for God through witnesses and silly skits.
Camps run June – July and are available as day camps or overnight camps for elementary – high school students. Call
(407) 671-6322 for more details or visit the website to register:
www.sanpedrocenter.org/summercamp.
Saint Paul’s Prayer Group will continue to focus on a 5-part study entitled
“The Goose is Loose.” The fourth monthly session is April 10, entitled
“Gifts of the Holy Spirit.” It is not too late to join us on this exciting journey.
Monday, April 10, @ 7pm in FEC / 215. ney.
15.
All members of the Community of St Paul, as well as all guests and visitors, are welcome to join us for the evening.
Refreshments follow.
The Wild Goose series will help you experience a deeper relationship with the Person of the Holy Spirit. As you come to experience God’s presence and power, this very same Spirit will transform you and bring you
freedom.
