Professional Etiquette

• Be on time• Be friendly and welcoming, as

many people have traveled far just to hear you speak!

• Be awake and articulate• Use appropriate language

around visitors• Dress appropriately (not in a

pirate costume)– Be conscience of the

weather– Wear comfortable shoes

Monthly Meetings

• Mandatory!• Time to check-in

with others you may not have seen in awhile

• Learn new info about UVM

• Voice any concerns about programming

Interviews• Be ready and in the

lobby of the visitors center 10 minutes early

• Pick-up interview sheet from Lucretzia

• After each interview, write a card to the student and complete interview sheet

• Remember: interviews are informational only!

Weekly Tours• Arrive 10 min early• Check-in with Lucretzia• Go to the AdvoCat room

and get your nametag• Make sure to use the

bathroom before leaving to avoid emergencies

• Turn off your cell phone before going on tour

• Be in the lobby of the visitors center before your tour departs

• After each tour fill out postcards

Group Information Sessions (GIS)

• GIS are offered Monday mornings and Friday afternoons

• Each GIS consists of the Admissions video, a PowerPoint presentation led by a counselor, followed by a student panel, and then a tour

• Be aware of your multiple duties, sometimes including parking lot duty, and greeting visitors

Open Houses• Each AdvoCat is

responsible to work 2 open houses a semester

• Arrival times vary, and will be emailed to everyone

• There are many different tasks, and upon arrival you will receive your personal schedule

• Make sure to be in the correct place at the correct time!

Saturdays

• You are responsible for 3 Saturdays a semester

• Saturdays include Group Information Sessions, which includes a student panel

• You will need to arrive at either 9:00am or 10:30am

• Be on time!!!• You will have multiple

tasks• Also, try not to show up
