The ability for school and pre-school to work closely together will be hugely beneficial to both pares, and could offer an increased number of hours to families with pre-school aged children. If the demand is there, we would look at offering before and aſter school club provision for those aged 2-4yrs from June 2019—extending the childcare available for working families. Our new value of Responsibility is perfectly med for this half term, parcularly as the children in some year groups prepare for some statutory tests. During May the children from Year 2 and Year 6 will have tests to complete. Formal results are not given unl the end of term, and will be sent home with the yearly school reports on or before Wednesday 10th July. An addional leaflet is being sent home today with the children in those year groups, that will explain things a lile more. If you have further quesons, please speak to Mr Smith or Mr Cunningham. Punctuality and aendance is hugely important during the tesng period. Mr Smith is sll looking for more packets of seeds. Even if they are beyond their ‘use by’ date or only half full, the children would very much like to use them. Pop them into the school office, for the aenon of Mr Smith. Daily Mile and Breakfast We are thrilled to see so many people arriving at school early to take part in the daily mile and to have breakfast. Remember that Race to Read is sll a high priority— where each child who reads 5 mes in the week (from Thursday to Thursday) will receive a raffle cket and contribute towards the class total. Buster’s book club is the number of minutes and extra minutes that they read on a TUESDAY night. We try to post updates and reminders of the school Facebook page so keep your eye out for them. If you have any quesons, be sure to catch Mr Cunningham. Children on Gold The Gold count re- sets this week for the summer term. We very regularly are full for breakfast and aſter school club. If you book your place, but do not need it, please be sure to cancel it, allowing someone else to book in. During May and June, Tesco Waon is offering Carbrooke Primary the opportunity of having one of the 3 token collecon secons. Each group that is chosen will receive a guaranteed sum of at least £1,000, which we have chosen to support the library and reading. The winner will receive £4,000—a sum of money that would have a huge posive impact on the quality of books we can offer to readers at all levels. Welcome to the Summer Term!

It is wonderful to see everyone back

to school—old friends and new. The

children all welcome their new

classmates; do you think the parents

could offer that friendship branch to

a new face on the playground? It

could make a big difference.

Headlice…

Once a week

Take a peek

A few lovely days of sun, followed by

a day of rain showers. As we never

know what the weather will do,

please can the children be prepared

with a coat, sun hat and water

bottles. Sensible footwear is always

recommended but NO TRAINERS

please.

Pre-School Consultation

On Thursday this week we sent home a letter

and questionnaire about the pre-school

provision that is on site—presently run by

Carbrooke Pre-School Committee. The ability

for school and pre-school to work closely

together will be hugely beneficial to both

parties, and could offer an increased number

of hours to families with pre-school aged

children.

If the demand is there, we would look at

offering before and after school club

provision for those aged 2-4yrs from June

2019—extending the childcare available for

working families.

Our new value of Responsibility is perfectly timed for this half term, particularly as the children in some year groups prepare for some statutory tests. During May the children from Year 2 and Year 6 will have tests to complete. Formal results are not given until the end of term, and will be sent home with the yearly school reports on or before Wednesday 10th July. An additional leaflet is being sent home today with the children in those year groups, that will explain things a little more. If you have further questions, please speak to Mr Smith or Mr Cunningham. Punctuality and attendance is hugely important during the testing period.

Mr Smith is still looking for more packets

of seeds. Even if they are beyond their

‘use by’ date or only half full, the children

would very much like to use them. Pop

them into the school office, for the

attention of Mr Smith.

Daily Mile and Breakfast

We are thrilled to see so

many people arriving at

school early to take part in

the daily mile and to have

breakfast. Each time the

children take part in the

mile, they receive a team

point. Bagels and Porridge

are then available from

8:40 to everyone—which

are proving to be very

popular!

Race to Read and Buster’s Book Club!

Remember that Race to Read is still a high priority—

where each child who reads 5 times in the week (from

Thursday to Thursday) will receive a raffle ticket and

contribute towards the class total. Buster’s book club is

the number of minutes and extra minutes that they

read on a TUESDAY night. We try to post updates and

reminders of the school Facebook page so keep your

eye out for them. If you have any questions, be sure to

catch Mr Cunningham.

Children on Gold

The Gold count re-

sets this week for

the summer term.

We very regularly

are full for breakfast

and after school club. If you

book your place, but do not

need it, please be sure to

cancel it, allowing someone

else to book in.

During May and June, Tesco

Watton is offering Carbrooke

Primary the opportunity of

having one of the 3 token

collection sections. Each

group that is chosen will

receive a guaranteed sum of

at least £1,000, which we

have chosen to support the

library and reading. The winner will

receive £4,000—a sum of money that

would have a huge positive impact on

the quality of books we can offer to

readers at all levels. Fingers Crossed—

tell friends and family to support us.

are invited to attend.

From September

2019 the school office

is going ‘cashless’.

The office staff are

going on training next

week so will be able

to let you know a bit

more about it.

International Day

Following on from the incredibly popular day last year, Mr

Smith is organising a second ‘International Day’ for all pupils.

This year it will be on Tuesday 25th June. The children will be

given a passport and can bring ‘luggage’ to take on their

travels. I wonder where they will travel off to this time?

Fasten your safety belts...

Please do remember that class teachers are the first port of call with issues regarding your child. They can be seen, by prior arrangements, at a mutually convenient time.

If you would like to come in and talk to a member of the Senior Leadership Team please ask the office staff to book you a time. Please note, it is also possible to ask for a telephone discussion if this is more convenient.

Following on from the brilliant Sport Café before the Easter

break, and also the fantastic Science Café run by the teaching

assistants this week, we are looking at becoming a hub school

for Cafés. Your incredible support so far and the staff’s

dedication to this creative learning, shows how much we

value the ‘teamwork’ approach to learning at Carbrooke. Each

class will hold further Cafés during the term, so look out for

the dates in the diary list and on the school website calendar.

The theme is often linked to the class topic. As we have in

previous years, a transition Café is planned for Friday 12th

July, 1:45pm—where you will be working with your child’s

new teacher for September 2019.

Happy Birthday to:

Poppy (8) Evie (7) Amerlie (8) Freddie (9)

As you may recall, we have a

whole school educational visit

booked for July. Due to a lack

of coaches being available to

us on that day, we will not be

able to take the whole school

to the same place. Key Stage

1 and Reception will be

staying more local for their

visit on that day, but it will

certainly still be exciting!

Carbrooke Village Summer Fair

On Saturday 29th June, Carbrooke Village is holding their Summer

event. School will be attending—as both a stall holder and also have

activities for the children to take part in. We are looking for some

volunteers (adults and children) to help out during the day—even if

it is just for an hour. Please register your offers with Mrs Wheeler.
