It was a moment of glory for Bhanu and his team in particular and all the Midtowners in general. The chief guest of the day and the charismatic speaker all the way from Coimbatore, PDG. Rtn. Kuriachan was roped in to the party, fellowship of midtown was instantly infectious and he gladly posed with the best club of the district. Earlier in the day 24 registered Midtowners turned up at Hotel Ramya Mahindra at sharp 8am, and the big hearted Rtn. Alagappan hosted the breakfast and generously excused himself as he had some other personal engagements. So was Rtn. Manoj and Sait. Finally 22 Rotarians started off in 3 SUVs and 2 Sedans. Request stop was at Channarayapatna for coffee and reached shimoga at 2pm. Stay was at Hotel Jewel Rock. Post lunch, Chairman Rtn. Raghavendra assigned the Rotarians to 10 AC rooms with clinical precision. After a good 1hour post prandial power nap we were ready at the lobby to leave to the venue. Thanks to bullet like SMSs from Raaghu. Venue was Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College on the outskirts of Shimoga. After the registration and formalities the inauguration of the District training Assembly and awards ceremony got underway. It was the talks by PDG Kuriachan and PDG Nagendran which held the people together till the awards ceremony. After the inaugural ceremony it was Awards ceremony and Midtowners had to wait nearly 1hour for their turn to be called onto the stage. Humid weather, lack of working fans made life difficult to stay inside the arena. And the same time was put into best use in interacting with the chief guest PDG Kuriachan, website editor Rtn. Wilbur and few other PDGs. After the awards, Midtowners relaxed at the fellowship venue which appeared little bit stuffy and cramped. But the spirits were flowing freely and nobody had the time to complain. Dinner followed and Midtowners retired. Sunday, SMS from Raaghu, and Midtowners were at the venue by 9:30am. Breakfast spread was elaborate. Following that was the inaugural session of the District training assembly. Again PDG Nagendra who spoke on core values of Rotary and PDG Kuriachan who spoke on leadership excellancy were the two prominent speakers. Kuriachan with his excellent human training skills held the audience for nearly 1 ½ hrs. There was a brief session on district projects and the crowd dispersed for training sessions. Future leaders of the “light up” rotary year were given training in their respective avenues. After lunch in different venues the Midtowners finally started their journey back home at 2:30pm. Midtowners in general. The chief guest of the day and the charismatic speaker all the way from Coimbatore, PDG. Rtn. Kuriachan was roped in to the party, fellowship of midtown was instantly infectious and he gladly posed with the best club of the district.

Note: In previous issue of “About Us”, Modi was mentioned as 16th Prime Minister of India. (The error is regretted)

Funny Short StoriesThe child and his mother:A curious child asked his mother: “Mommy, why are some of your hairs turning grey?”The mother tried to use this occasion to teach her child: “It is because of you, dear. Every bad

action of yours will turn one of my hairs grey!”The child replied innocently: “Now I know why grandmother has only grey hairs on her head.”

Wrong email address:A couple going on vacation but his wife was on a business trip so he went to the destination first

and his wife would meet him the next day. When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick email.Unfortunately, when typing her address, he mistyped a letter and his note was directed instead

to an elderly preacher's wife whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her email, she took one look at the monitor, let out a

piercing scream, and fell to the floor in a dead faint. At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen:Dearest Wife,Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow.P.S. Sure is hot down here.

Pappu's experience at the airport:After his return from Rome, Will couldn't find his luggage in the airport baggage area. He went

to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that his bags hadn't shown up on the carousel. She smiled and told him not to worry because they were trained professionals and he was in

good hands. Then she asked Will, “Has your plane arrived yet?”

Clever kids:A police officer found a perfect hiding place for watching for speeding motorists. One day, the officer was amazed when everyone was under the speed limit, so he investigated

and found the problem.A 10 years old boy was standing on the side of the road with a huge hand painted sign which

said “Radar Trap Ahead.”A little more investigative work led the officer to the boy's accomplice: another boy about 100

yards beyond the radar trap with a sign reading “TIPS” and a bucket at his feet full of change.

Rotary year Venky –fully loaded with lots of information and plans was driving his SUV- Qualis, following 3 other vehicles in the front. 10 kms off Shimoga on the highway he went and rammed into a cow which was being chased by a bullock out of its sheer natural instincts. For a moment all the five in the qualis including Sundar, Mohan were dazed. When they came into their senses the front of the vehicle had gone for a six and the radiator was leaking. Immediately secretary Mohan took charge of the situation called back

the cars driven by Raaghu, Raghu, and Milty. Before the mob would assemble it was decided to drop qualis back at Shimoga and Rtn. Pavithran through his contacts organized to park the vehicle at Shimoga and the 2 vehicles now fully loaded with 13 people started all over again at 5:30pm and after the dinner stop at Channarayapatna, the 2 Tata Safaris reached back home safely at 12.30am. Rtn. Sundar seeing the time had already started making appeals for breakfast! By the time this article is ready for reading I hope the Qualis is repaired and ready for auction. The money raised wouldl be donated to community service project in Light Up Rotary year!!!! Venky… are you ready…!!

The ChargeCard smartphone charger and cable is small enough to slip inside a wallet, helping ensure you're always ready to power-up.

The ChargeCard is made by the same company that created the ChargeKey, with the idea that people will usually not leave home without their wallet or keys. Like the ChargeKey, the ChargeCard can draw power from a USB and features a USB to Lightning (or Micro USB) cable. The pliable material that forms the 'cable' will flex in middle to allow the USB to attach to the power port and then fold back up into its slim credit card shape.
