CommissioningABB Marine has a proven track record

of providing timely and high-quality com-

missioning services. Our clearly defined

and executed commissioning processes,

together with proven start-up methodolo-

gies, ensure that commissioning is per-

formed with maximum quality, safety and

efficiency. The globally coordinated pool of

commissioning engineers provides flexibility

in the crucial final stages of vessel delivery.

Our working model supports continuous

communication between the customer and

ABB project management throughout the

commissioning process.

Training, ABB Marine AcademyOur customer training organization, ABB

Marine Academy, offers you a comprehen-

sive range of learning solutions. These

solutions are designed to give the required

technical understanding and working skills

to guarantee the full functionality of your

ABB installation. ABB Marine Academy

provides in-depth, hands-on experience at

our well-equipped training centers located

worldwide. The main training centers are in

Helsinki, Finland, which focuses on Cruise

ships and Ferries, and in Singapore, which

focuses on Oil & Gas related vessels and

Drilling systems. These learning environ-

ments are furnished with authentic vessel

equipment, such as a full range of ABB

drives, Azipod® steering units and Main

Switchboard cubicles. Marine Academy

satellite units can be found around the

world, for example in Rotterdam, NL, and

Genoa, Italy.



Preventive MaintenanceABB’s collaborative approach to mainte-

nance includes detailed work scopes for

ABB’s maintenance staff and the custom-

er’s engineers. The work share is defined

according to operational variables such as

budget, vessel availability, crew compe-

tence level, and environment. Agreement

based maintenance is enabled with ABB’s

preventive care concept, where consuma-

ble spare parts and the scope of ABB’s

work are defined, scheduled and budgeted

for a longer period of time. The concept,

including for example non-intrusive condi-

tion monitoring, has been designed to

minimize disruption and maximize safety.

To help reaching these objectives ABB

Marine has introduced eMST®, the “elec-

tronic Maintenance Support Tool”. This

easy-to-use software application helps

the crew perform maintenance tasks safely

and efficiently. For more sizeable mainte-

nance operations, such as planned over-

hauls and dry docking, ABB Marine has

a specialized global organization with the

required tools, workshops, project man-

agement and engineering resources.

Spare PartsWith ABB genuine parts you’ll achieve

the same high quality standards as the

whole ABB Marine system. Our trained

parts coordinators are at your service

as a single point of contact for handling

and delivery. The locally executed and

globally coordinated spares delivery

process offers rapid response through

on-call, 24/7 or strategic Maintenance

and Service Agreements. Our spare

parts organization is committed to help-

ing you identify the best on-site spare

parts warehouse strategy according to

your maintenance strategy, operational

profile and predefined availability target.

24/7 ServiceABB Marine Services provides 24/7 tele-

phone support, for service, spare parts

and general assistance concerning ABB

equipment. Our worldwide infrastructure

is designed to support the customer’s

global assets and operations. Our service

engineers are provided with the required

Marine and Offshore certificates, enabling

fast access onboard.

Emergency contact and call-back

from local or specialist support resources

will be provided when needed. Response

times, key account engineers and support

demands can be specially defined by agree-

ment, and aligned with the level of availabili-

ty required. Such an agreement can be

combined with the preventive care concept

and a spare parts availability contract.

ModernizationsVessels built over a decade ago often

employ diverse technical systems deli -

ve red by both ABB and other manufactu-

rers. These systems are subject to aging

and wear, and often they no longer meet

current requirements. For some of these

systems, production has been discontin-

ued, making maintenance and spare parts

supply difficult. ABB Marine Services offers

a wide range of modernization solutions

using state-of-the art ABB technologies.
