  • 1 Introduction

    1 Introduction

This chapter provides an overview of Command Mode:

    Command Mode Sessions

    Scripts

    Access Rights

    Errors

    Available Commands.

Overview Command Mode allows you to:

    Run a series of procedures

Schedule procedures to run at a given date and time

Perform migrations (BSS, A1353-RA/A1353-RA)Command Mode for the A1353-RA allows operators to perform various tasks inDCN, RNUSM and BSSUSM from a unitary and dedicated terminal window.Through this single interface, requests are made by the operator with any UNIXshell script language. Everything you can do in a UNIX environment, you cando in Command Mode. Common functions such as saving, deleting, printing, copying, viewing, editing, renaming and scheduling are performed usingstandard UNIX commands (cp, mv, rm, lp, crontab, at).

Command Mode Options Depending on your needs, you can use Command Mode in three different ways:

Dedicated Command Mode, for running procedures immediately

Implicit Command Mode, for creating files and scheduling Command Modeprocedures to be run at a later time

Explicit Command Mode, for scheduling Command Mode procedures to runwithin other sessions (for example, while performing migrations).

  • 1 Introduction

Access Rights The Command Mode interface can be started from the desktop by any operatorwith Command Mode access rights. Once Command Mode is started, there isfurther access control. All available commands can be entered according to theOAD (Object Access Domain) or the FAD (Functional Access Domain) accessrights, which are created for each operator by the System Administrator.

Tip The spaces, used to separate the parameters of the commands, are optional. They do not impact the command execution. For example, the following 2 lines are equivalent (both lines are correct):

    omcdo -cmd OMC_exportHW(101,1) omcdo -cmd OMC_exportHW( 101, 1 )

Errors If errors occur (parsing, routing, connection failure, or an actual "crash"), errormessages are displayed. The operator can stop and restart the CommandMode session.

    RNL : Radio Network Layer

MFS : Multi-BSS Fast packet Server.

    3. Enteromcdo -cmd

Command Mode runs the procedure(s).4. Enter

    omcdo -stop

The used to start the command mode session:

    OAM

    EML

    RNL

    MFS

    5. Enteromcdo -exit

    to exit Command Mode.

Note: Use single and not double quotation marks to enclose the command.Frequently double quotation marks are used within the command string itself. Ifyou have used double quotation marks for the command, you must thenre-enter the command between backslashes.

2.2 Implicit Command ModeUse Implicit Command Mode if you want to create a file and scheduleCommand Mode procedures to run at a later time.1. Create an executable file whith the following content:

omcmdo -start Depending on what you want to do,choose the right :

OAM : Operation, Administration and Maintenance

    EML : Element Management Layer

    RNL : Radio Network Layer

MFS : Multi-BSS Fast packet Server.

  • 2 Starting Command Mode Sessions

    omcdo -cmd

omcdo -stop The is that choosed to start thecommand mode session:

OAM : Operation, Administration and Maintenance

    EML : Element Management Layer

    RNL : Radio Network Layer

MFS : Multi-BSS Fast packet Server.

    2. From any terminal window, enter/alcatel/omc3/usmcmd/script/run_usmcmd -f

The Implicit Command Mode file is created. The file will run the proceduresat the predetermined time, and exit automatically.

2.3 Explicit Command ModeTo create an Explicit Command Mode session file:1. From any terminal, enter

    /alcatel/omc3/usmcmd/script/run_usmcmd -p &Command Mode assigns a port number.

    PORT =

    2. Enterexport USMCMD_SESSION_PORT =

where is the assigned port number.3. Enter

    run_omcdo -start

Depending on what you want to do, choose the right :

OAM : Operation, Administration and Maintenance

    EML : Element Management Layer

    RNL : Radio Network Layer

MFS : Multi-BSS Fast packet Server.

    4. Enterrun_omcdo -cmd

    5. Enterrun_omcdo -exit

when you have finished entering commands. The Explicit Command Mode file is created. The file runs the procedureswithin the other session.

Note: Use single and not double quotation marks to enclose the command.Frequently double quotation marks are used within the command string itself. Ifyou have used double quotation marks for the command, you must thenre-enter the command between backslashes.

3.4 ODMC ManagementThis section describes the list of high-level services involved in ODMCmanagement. Note that ODMC management requires manipulation of elementlists (cell & raw types). Therefore, this list must be fully informed in a bufferbefore any ODMC creation/modification.Also note that each subsequent Buffer_xxx function is only a buffer accessor. This means that no check is made at this level regarding associatedinformation set in the buffer. The actual checks will be performed by thecreation/modification functions themselves.

Output DONE_WITH_INFOThere is a difference between the two following output cases:

A previous call of Buffer_setCellList(cellListName) (with an empty cellId list) setsan empty cellId list and gives a Buffer_displayCellList() output such as:DONE_WITH_INFOEND_OF_REPORT

A previous call of Buffer_setCellList() sets the buffer to "No cell change required"state and gives a Buffer_displayCellList() output such as:DONE_WITH_INFONO LISTEND_OF_REPORT
