09:50 – Luton arrival

Check-out should take about 1 h, so we’ll catch the 10:55 bus. The ride takes 1h 20 min, so we’ll be at Victoria Coach Station at 12:15.

We’ll take the subway to Liverpool Street Station so we can leave our luggage there for 3h until we’re able to check-in at Karslake.

Page 16: A Week in London

We’ll leave our luggage there, which shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes. Afterwards, we’ll take a short walk to see the Thames, down to Southwark Cathedral and back to the Museum of London, which is the coolest thing we could see for free in the area.

Page 17: A Week in London

After we visit the Museum of London, we’ll head back to Liverpool Street to collect our luggage, and then head for Karslake to check in.

Page 18: A Week in London

We’ll take the 8/388 bus to Karslake, so we’ll get there in about 20 minutes.

Page 19: A Week in London

There’s no reason we should spend much time at Karslake after we check in, so at about 16:00 we’ll go out for a walk in Leadenhall Market. Apparently, that’s where all the fun is this time of day! We can take the #8 bus or #388. We’ll stay here 1 h, from 16:30 to 17:30.

Page 20: A Week in London
Page 21: A Week in London

Our next stop is a very famous old pub, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, where we’ll go eat something and drink a pint of beer. We can take bus #11, #23, #26. Any of them will get us there in 15 min tops. We’ll stay for 1h 15 min, from 17:45 to 18:30.

After we’ve filled our stomachs, we’ll take the most awesome walk EVER () from Somerset House to the London Eye (via Waterloo Bridge), from there to Parliament Square and Big Ben (via Westminster Bridge), and from there to our final destination for the evening, Trafalgar Square. Google Maps says the walk takes 40 minutes, but we’ll take our time and arrive at Trafalgar in about 1h.

Since Thursdays are Late Nights at the National Portrait Gallery, we’ll visit for about 1h to see the famous Tudor portraits (and much more).

Page 22: A Week in London
Page 23: A Week in London

This marks the end of our first day in London, so to relax for the night we’ll spend some time in St James’s Park.

The park is apparently open until 00:00, so we can stay for however long we want. However, to still catch the subway home, we should leave around 23:00. We’ll take the Circle Line and then the #388 bus.

Page 24: A Week in London

6.2 DAY 2 – Friday 26 th June

1. Café in the Courtyard (St. Martin in the Fields) 2. Churchill War Rooms £31.803. Covent Garden4. Royal LDN Tour (Trafalgar Square) £205. British Museum free6. Natural History Museum free7. Crest of London Souvenir Shop £10.00

Friday is Late Night for many museums in London, so we’ll try to squeeze a few of them in our schedule for the day.

But first things first: we’ll start off our day with a cup of coffee at Café in the Courtyard (at St. Martin in the Fields church), a very nice, affordable café.

Page 26: A Week in London

Then it’s time for our first stop of the day, Churchill War Rooms.

Page 27: A Week in London

They open at 09:30, so we’ll leave the café around 09:15. Churchill War Rooms is 15 min away by foot. We’ll spend 1h 30 min there, until 11:00.

Next we’ll take a leisure walk to Covent Garden. We’ll pass through Whitehall Gardens, Victoria Embankment Gardens and arrive at Covent Garden, right next to St. Paul’s Church.

Page 28: A Week in London

After Covent Garden, we’ll head to Trafalgar Square for our Royal LDN Tour.

The tour starts at 13:00 and takes 2h. We’ll see Clarence, Lancaster, Marlborough and Spencer House, Trafalgar Square, Pall Mall, Buckingham Palace, St James Palace, Green Park, The Ritz, The Mall. We’ll end up at Buckingham Palace, at 15:00.

Now that it’s getting late, we’ll start visiting the museums. First off is the British Museum, which is 30 min away. Assuming we’ll queue up for a bit, I think we’ll get inside around 15:30.

Page 29: A Week in London

Next stop is the Natural History Museum, which is open until 22:00. We’ll spend 3 h there, until it closes.

Page 30: A Week in London

Last stop for the day is the Crest of London store on Shaftsbury Avenue, where we’ll use our £5 credit to buy souvenirs. The store is open until midnight.

Page 31: A Week in London

We can also drop by M&Ms world since it is open till midnight and we have 15% off.

Page 32: A Week in London

The road home to Karslake will take about 40 min. We’ll take the bus from Holborn station so we can see the beautiful London at night. (Plus, it’s only 5 min slower than the tube.)

We should be home and off to sleep around 11:30.

Page 33: A Week in London
Page 34: A Week in London

6.3 DAY 3 – Saturday 27 th June

1. Windsor2. Jason’s Boat Trip (Little Venice) £18.003. Camden Lock Market4. Wembley Stadium5. 221 Baker Street6. We Built This City Souvenir Shop7. Tate Modern £8.50

On Saturday we’ll take a daytrip to Windsor. The road is long, and we’ll have to wake up pretty early to get there on time (nothing we’re not used to). London Pass covers our journey even though it’s outside Zone 6, but we have to board the train from Paddington.

Page 35: A Week in London
Page 36: A Week in London

We’ll arrive in Windsor at 9:00, and we’ll head to the admission gates. The castle opens at 09:45, and since we have Fast Track, we shouldn’t have to wait long before being admitted inside. Therefore, we can grab a quick coffee at Gigney’s, where we have 20% off our bill with our London Pass.

From there we’ll go straight to the admission gates of the castle. It’s a 5 min walk, so we’ll be there in no time.

Page 37: A Week in London

After Windsor, it’s time for our boat trip with Jason. The website says we need to be there at least 30min before the boat trip, which starts at 14:30. If we leave Windsor around 13:00, we’ll be in Little Venice at 14:15 which should be fine considering we’ve already booked the trip.

Page 38: A Week in London

In 45 min, the boat will take us to Camden Lock Market, which is one of the most famous markets in London and should be buzzing with activity at that time. We’ll look around for about half an hour, until 16:00, and then head to Wembley Stadium.

Page 39: A Week in London

We’ll catch the Wembley 17:00 tour, which lasts 1h 15 min. When we’re done with Wembley, we’ll head over to Sherlock’s home, 221 Baker Street.

Page 40: A Week in London

We’ll take a few pictures, look around, and stop by a very nice souvenir shop called We Built This City. It’s open until 20:00 on Saturday.

Page 41: A Week in London

After we’ve relaxed enough, we’ll head towards Southbank, because Tate Modern is open until 22:00 on Saturdays. We’ll get there at 20:30 and spend 1h 30min visiting the museum.

Page 42: A Week in London

Since the road home to Karslake House only takes 30 min by bus, we can still walk around the area for a bit (Blackfriars Bridge / Millennium Bridge / St Bride’s Church) after visiting the museum.

Page 43: A Week in London
Page 44: A Week in London

6.4 DAY 4 – Sunday 28 th June

1. Cellarium Café2. Westminster Abbey3. National Gallery4. Stamford Bridge £40.005. Kew Gardens £30.006. Richmond Park

First objective of the day is Westminster Abbey, which opens at 09:30. Before we visit the abbey, we’ll stop for a morning tea at Cellarium Café, where we have 20% off.

Page 45: A Week in London

We’ll spend about 2 h in the abbey, \90where hopefully it won’t be that crowded first thing in the morning.

After Westminster, our next stop is the National Gallery. We’ll visit for 1h 30 min, from 12:00 to 13:30. It’s a 15 min walk to the National Gallery, and we’ll add another 15 min just so we can catch our breath.

Page 46: A Week in London

Next on the list is Stamford Bridge Stadium, which is only 30 min away. The tour starts at 14:20, so we’ve got plenty of time to get there.

Page 47: A Week in London

The tour ends at 15:30, when we’ll leave for Kew Gardens, which are open late on weekends during the summer.

Since the District Line is closed from Earl’s Court to Richmond this weekend, we’ll have to take the 391 bus to Kew.

Page 48: A Week in London

Victoria Plaza Café is right next to the gate, so we can grab a quick bite if we’re hungry.

When Kew closes at 19:30 (or even earlier, if we get bored), we’ll head towards Richmond Park to hopefully see some deer.

Page 49: A Week in London
Page 50: A Week in London

When we’re through with Richmond, we’ll take the train home (sometime around 22:00).

Page 51: A Week in London
Page 52: A Week in London

6.5 DAY 5 – Mon 29 th June

1. King’s Cross2. Emirates Stadium £36.003. London Zoo4. Hampton Court Palace £33.005. Wimbledon6. Mitcham

Monday morning we’ll visit the Emirates Stadium, but since the road takes us through King’s Cross anyway, we’ll stop there on our way so we can take a picture at Platform 9 ¾. The Harry Potter Shop at King’s Cross opens at 08:00, so if we leave home at 08:00 we’ll be there at 08:30 and spend about 30 min there.

We’ll buy Bertie Bott’s every flavour beans and tickets to Hogwarts!

Page 53: A Week in London

Afterwards, it’s only 15 min to Emirates, so we’ll be there when the stadium opens at 09:30. We’ll catch the first tour, and at 10:30 when the museum opens we’ll visit to take some pictures with the trophies.

We’ll leave at 11:00 to get to ZSL London Zoo, where all the cute animals are waiting for us!

We’ll spend two hours at the zoo, from 12:00 to 14:00.

Page 54: A Week in London

At 14:00 we’ll leave the Zoo to get to Hampton Court, which is pretty far, far away.

Page 55: A Week in London

Hampton Court is open until 18:00, so hopefully we’ll get to spend about 3h there. When it closes, we’ll head to Wimbledon. Even though it’s closed because of the championship, maybe we’ll run into Federer and get an autograph. If not, we can still take pictures in front of the building and maybe watch a match on the hills.

It’s a 50 min road to Wimbledon, by train and bus, so we’ll get there around 19:00. We’ll probably spend 1h or so looking around before leaving for our next destination.

Page 56: A Week in London

Since there’s no way we can avoid this, we’ll have to visit some relatives while in London. I figure there’s no better time than Monday evening, because we’re close to Mitcham. We’ll leave Wimbledon around 20:00, and reach Mitcham around 20:40.

Page 57: A Week in London
Page 58: A Week in London

We’ll probably leave around 22:00, so we can get home safely.

Page 59: A Week in London

6.6 DAY 6 – Tuesday 30 th June

1. Swan at Shakespeare2. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre3. Tower of London £40.004. Tower Bridge £18.005. HMS Belfast £30.006. British Library7. Jack the Ripper Tour

Today’s the day we visit the Southbank, and its most famous sights. However, since we might be sleepy, we’ll have a coffee at the Swan at Shakespeare’s. The café opens at 08:00 and is next to the theatre.

Page 60: A Week in London

We’ll start off early in the morning with the Globe Theatre. There are two parts to our visit: the exhibition and the tour. The exhibition opens at 09:00, and the first tour is available at 09:30 and lasts about 1h. All in all, we should be done with the Globe Theatre by 10:30.

Our next stop is the Tower of London, which is about 30 min away by foot (there’s no bus or subway that’ll take us there). Since it’s a huge attraction, we’ll spend 3h there. If we hurry, on our way there we can stop by All Hallows by the Tower (it’s right next to the Tower) to get our free guidebooks.

Page 61: A Week in London

We’ll visit the Tower from 11:00 to 14:00, when we’ll just hop over to Tower Bridge, which is a few minutes away.

Page 62: A Week in London

The visit to Tower Bridge will take 1h 30 min, so we’ll be ready for our next destination around 15:45. That next destination is, of course, the last major attraction in the area, HMS Belfast.

We’ll spend about 2h on board the HMS Belfast, after which we’ll head over to the British Library to see Da Vinci’s original sketches and much more.

Page 63: A Week in London

After an hour at the Library (from 18:30 to 19:30) we’ll head back to join the 8 o’clock Jack the Ripper tour. The tour starts from Tower Hill and lasts about 100 minutes.

Page 64: A Week in London

The tour ends near Spitalfields Market, which is pretty close to home.

Page 65: A Week in London

If we’re up for it, we can even go by foot (it’s actually faster than by bus).

Page 66: A Week in London

6.7 DAY 7 Wednesday 1 st July

1. Greenwich Park2. Pavilion Café3. Royal Observatory Greenwich £15.404. Cutty Sark5. Thames City Cruise Greenwich – Westminster £36.006. Science Museum7. Kensington Palace8. Kensington Gardens / Hyde Park

Page 67: A Week in London

9. The Shard

And, believe it or not, this is our final day in London! We’ll start off the morning in Greenwich to visit the Observatory and Cutty Sark.

The Observatory opens at 10:00, and since this is our last day of visiting and Greenwich is huge, we’ll get there about 1h early to walk through the park and have a coffee.

Page 68: A Week in London

The Pavilion Café opens at 09:00, so if we want to we can stop by and grab a quick sandwich and a coffee. Since the café is right next to the Observatory, it’s definitely a good place to wait for it to open.

Page 69: A Week in London

The Observatory in right next to it.

Or we can just walk around the park until the park until the Observatory opens. It’s up to us.

Page 70: A Week in London

We’ll spend 1h 30min at the Observatory, from 10:00 to 11:30, after which we’ll head over to the Cutty Sark. It’s a 10min walk to the Cutty Sark, so even if we have to queue up for a bit to get on it, we’ll still probably be inside by 12:00.

We’ll spend an hour on board, from 12:00 to 13:00.

Page 71: A Week in London

Next, we’ll board a Thames River Cruise from Greenwich Pier to Westminster Pier. Greenwich Pier is right next to the Cutty Sark, so we’ll get there in no time, but I’ve left us with a 20 min margin of error, in case we want to stay on the ship a bit longer, or in case we want to walk around the pier.

The cruise will take 45 min from Greenwich to Westminster Pier.

Page 72: A Week in London

Since we’ll board the cruise at 13:20, we’ll be at Westminster Pier by 14:05. We’ll head over to the Science Museum near Kensington, where we’ll watch an IMAX movie Under the Sea using our London Pass.

The movie starts at 14:45 and is 45 min long, so it’ll be over by 15:30.

We’ll visit the Museum itself for another hour, until 16:30.

Page 73: A Week in London

After we’re done with the Science Museum, we’ll head over to Kensington Palace for a short visit. Last admission is at 17:00, and the castle closes at 18:00.

The road is about the same by bus or on foot. If we feel up for it, we can walk, if not we can wait for the bus.

Page 74: A Week in London
Page 75: A Week in London

After the castle closes at 18:00, we have nothing else on our schedule except for The Shard, we’re we have tickets for 20:30. So, in the meantime, we’ll most likely sit in a park or walk around (there’s nothing left to visit at that hour anyway, everything closes at 18:00 at the most).

Since the easiest way to get to The Shard is from Hyde Park Corner, we’ll be there around 20:00.

Page 76: A Week in London
Page 77: A Week in London

The Shard closes at 22:00. Depending on how tired we are, we can either walk for a bit since it’s our last evening in London, or we can go home.
