Current challenges of the SLMC1. Including SLMC as a Government “Enterprise”
2. Streamlining the process of employing foreign medicalspecialist in the private sector hospitals of Sri Lanka.
3. Introducing Minimum prescribed standards for medicaleducation in Faculties of Medicine be they private orstate.
4. Formulating the specialist registry.
5. Updating and streamlining the ERPM (Act 16 )examination and establishing standards for the foreignqualified medical graduates to practice in Sri Lanka.
6. Resolving the incongruence with the medicalordinance in relation to registering of ApothecaryOfficers under section 29 of the Medical ordinance.
7. Updating and re-evaluating the recognition system forforeign medical faculties to be registered as acceptablefor providing medical education to Sri Lankan citizens.
