Magnetic moment calculations from SQUID data: Saturation magnetisation of Fe 3 O 4 + film (0.7 mg) = 0.00137 emu Saturation magnetisation of Fe 3 O 4 powder (1.6 mg) = 0.06749 emu (42.2 emu/g) Mass of Fe 3 O 4 in polymer film = 0.06749 emu / 42.2 emu = 0.0325 mg % concentration by mass = 0.0325 mg / 0.7mg = 4.6% A saturation magnetisation of 42.2 emu/g was determined for the Fe 3 O 4 powder giving an estimated mass concentration of 4.6 % in the polymer film. Supporting Information

1. Magnetic moment calculations from SQUID data:

Saturation magnetisation of Fe3O4 + film (0.7 mg) = 0.00137 emu

Saturation magnetisation of Fe3O4 powder (1.6 mg) = 0.06749 emu (42.2 emu/g)

Mass of Fe3O4 in polymer film = 0.06749 emu / 42.2 emu = 0.0325 mg

% concentration by mass = 0.0325 mg / 0.7mg = 4.6%

A saturation magnetisation of 42.2 emu/g was determined for the Fe3O4 powder giving an estimated

mass concentration of 4.6 % in the polymer film.
