This course discusses the system protection imperatives from the business and technical standpoint,

the various types of system disturbances, failures and their implications, protective relaying, equipment

protection, protection coordination and control following industry standards and best practice approach.

This course covers the basic concepts and principles in the design of distribution lines based on source

and load centers, terrain, voltage drop and regulation, distribution transformer sizing/loading, fuse rating

and other protection, conductor sizing, sag and tension, pole loading and mechanical support. This will also

consider local standards and the PEC code, industry regulations and other requirements.

Flow. This will include discussions on short circuit and fault analysis, per unit calculations, symmetrical
