We know these are uncertain times, but the Red Cross is in need of donations now more than ever, and we would greatly appreciate anyone who can donate. That being said, precautions will be taken to adhere to so-cial distancing recommendations. There-fore, if you plan on donating blood, we highly recommend making an appoint-ment beforehand to avoid overcrowding. You can accomplish this by calling the number on the poster or by signing up online. March Student of the Month Mason Troxel is the Diller-Odell Elementary March Student of the Month. Mason is very motivated to do his best whether it be in learning new things, setting good examples for his peers, or being a good citizen in his school. He accepts challenges and very of-ten does the right thing whether someone is watching or not. He is polite and express concern for and encourages those around him. Mason is in the Kindergarten and is the son of Adam and Kara Troxel. Congratulations Mason!

Even though Cornhusker Girl and Boy State has been cancelled for this summer, the Odell Legion and Aux-iliary felt our representatives needed to be recog-nized. We are proud of these 2 students and wish them success going forward.

The Auxiliary chose Jadyn Schultis to attend Girl State. She is very involved with school, church and community activities. School activities include Stu-dent Council, FFA, Engage, Speech, band, One Act, choir, basketball, and National Honor Society. Com-munity activities include helping at Memorial Day ser-vices and Diller Picnic. She competed in the Miss Jef-ferson County Pageant last summer. Jadyn serves her church by helping with Bible School, singing and helping with other programs. She is also involved in

4-H and has been a camp counselor the last 3 years. Jadyn is the daughter of Jamie and Sherrie Schultis.

The Legion chose Korey Theye as their Boy State representative. Korey is a member of National Hon-or Society, Student Council, student representative to the school board. He participates in football, bas-ketball, track, one-act, speech, quiz bowl, choir. He is a member of Engage and treasurer of the junior class. Korey is a 10 year 4-H member and was se-lected state alternate to the 2019 National 4-H Con-gress. He is a member of the youth group at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odell. Korey is the son of Daylon and Kay Theye, and grandson of Tena Theye and Sandra Cumro.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Diller-Odell Public Schools will be closed through Friday, May 1st. School facility use, such as the fitness centers will also be closed during this time.

Diller Odell Board of Ed Minutes High School Media Center in Odell Regular Board Meeting—Monday, March 9, 7:30 pm Members Present: Angie Clifford,, Toni Landenberger, Ad-am Engelman, & Gary Stohs. The absences of Jill Scheele & Paul Kostal were excused. Motion to approve minutes of last meeting was made by An-gie Clifford and seconded by Gary Stohs. Motion passed with 4 yea and 0 nay. No Student Report. Principal Mezger reported on the upcoming ACT assessment as well as NSCAS and MAP assessments. Also, that Kindergarten Round-up is set for May 6. He expects a class of 15-20 students. Discussion was held on amending policy #5006 to allow people with option students at Diller-Odell Public Schools to host For-eign Exchange students. Current policy does not allow. Rachel Crook addressed the Board on the matter. The Board will have an action item at the April meeting to amend the policy. Motion to approve the teaching contract for Brooke Frederick as Art Teacher was made by Gary Stohs, and seconded by Adam Engelman. Motion passed with 4 yea, 0 nay. Principal Mezger reported on the upcoming NETA conference. The Board discussed the Threat Alert proposal from Diode Technologies. The proposal would see the installation of 10

canisters in each the elementary and the high school of a burn-ing gel to be sprayed on an intruder in case of emergencies. If the canister is pulled, the wireless system automatically calls 911 and sets off an alarm. The Board will gather more information and ask Diode Technologies to give a brief demo to the board in the future. Superintendent Meyerle reported on LB974. Much regarding legislation is TBD. The Board shared some of their correspond-ence with state legislators. He also have an update on staffing for 2020-21 Motion to approve bills as presented made by Gary Stohs and seconded by Angie Clifford. Passed with 4 yea, 0 nay. The Board noted the following had filed for Ward 2 Board candidacy: Paul Kostal, Dusty Duis, Kolin Kotas, and Tanner Parde. Some members plan to attend the annual NRCSA conference in Kearney March 25-27. Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Gary Stohs and a second by Adam Engelman. Motion passed with 4 yea, 0 nay. Meeting adjourned by Vice President Landenberger at 8:25 pm The next meeting is scheduled for TUESDAY, April 14 @ 7:30 pm. The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the pub-lished agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items in necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.

Diller Odell Board of Ed Minutes Elementary Media Center in Diller Special Board Meeting—Wed., March 18, 5:30 pm Members Present: Angie Clifford,, Toni Landenberger, Adam Engelman, Paul Kostal, Jill Scheele & Gary Stohs. Motion to approve minutes of last meeting was made by Gary Stohs and seconded by Angie Clifford. Motion passed with 6 yea and 0 nay. Discuss and make necessary plans for possible closings in the matter of public health. Motion to pay hourly staff paid in full until March 30 with no overtime made by Toni Landenberger and seconded by Gary Stohs. Duties will be assigned by administration at that point. Motion passed with 6 yea, 0 nay. On March 30 hourly staff that wish to come into school to work will be assigned duties as needed around the building. Motion to start free meals to any Diller-Odell PK-12 student that desire them on March 23 made by Gary Stohs, seconded by Angie Clifford. Motion passed with 6 yea, 0 nay. Motion to establish an emergency plan for hourly staff of a maximum of 80 hours of emergency leave. Recognizing the potential for increased time off by employees during the cur-rent COVID19 national health crisis, Diller-Odell Public Schools will implement the following temporary Emergency Leave Allowance. Emergency Leave will provide employees leave to: 1-Quarantine or see a diagnosis or preventive care for coronavirus; 2-Care for a family member for such pur-poses. 3-Care for a child whose school has closed. 4-Care for a child if the childcare provider is unavailable due to the

coronavirus; The emergency Leave Allowance is defined be-low: Full-time employees are entitled to a maximum of 80 hours; Part-time employees are entitled to hours in the amount the employee normally works, on average, in a two week period. The one-time temporary emergency Leave will expire December 31, 2020 and will not be available for car-ryover or for uses not related to the current COVID-19 health crisis. Motion made by Toni Landenberger and se-conded by Jill Scheele. Motion passed with 6 yea, 0 nay. Brown bag meals will be made available to any Diller-Odell PK-12 student Monday-Fridays as of March 23. They may be picked up at either the elementary or the high school. De-tails will be sent out via school messenger and poste don the school web site. The meals will consist of brown bad lunch, with also a breakfast for the next day. Delivery outside of Diller or Odell will be possible. The Board and administration want to insure that employees that need to stay away from work due to health concerns do so. The Board appreciates the dedication of staff over the year and wants to support them as much as possible to the district's students. Motion made by Angie Clifford to adjourn the meeting. Se-conded by Jill Scheele. Motion passed with 6 yea, 0 nay. Meeting adjourned by President Kostal at 6:20 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for TUESDAY, April 14 @ 7:30 pm.
