Student Council

Student Council continues to work on projects. Things settled down a little for them after Mardi Gras. However, they started working again to get ready for St. Patrick’s day. The students decorated a float for the Dyersville St. Patrick’s Day Parade. They thought it would be a good way to advertise the school. They were right! They also decorated a float for the New Vienna Farmers’ Day Parade. It is great to see students put time and energy into activities outside of school time.

On Saturday, March 26th, the 5th and 6th graders volunteered at Payless Foods. They bagged groceries for 4 hours in the morning. They did this to raise money for the school’s technology fund. They raised $318. This was a fantastic effort. It is wonderful to see students help out the school on their own time.

On May 11th, the 5th grade students will be volunteering at the St. Patrick’s Wednesday Night Meal. The students will help serve the dinner, wait on tables, and help with clean up.

Also on the student council agenda is a family night. They would like to have a fun carnival type evening for school families. There are many details that need to be discussed and worked out. Hopefully, they will be able to get this event organized. It is a huge undertaking by 5th and 6th graders.

SIAC (School Improvement Advisory Committee)

SIAC will be meeting on Monday, April 11th at 2:00. The committee will be looking at test results, the wellness plan, and ways that the school can improve the education of all students. This is a joint effort between the school, students, parents, and community. If there is anyone who would like to be on SIAC and work to improve our school, please call the office at 563-875-7572. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
