Description

There have been great advances in the diagnosis and the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. For example, in the last year alone there have been more than 25,000 papers published on liver disease. Basic treatment paradigms for common GI conditions such as chronic hepatitis

C are en flux as new classes of pharmaceuticals become available and even diseases without new therapies have been reappraised with new recommendations. In addition, to maintain their practices, gastroenterologists and surgeons may need to look into offering other services such as motility testing, Barrett’s ablative therapies (such as cryotherapy and radiofrequency ablation), gastric electrical stimulation, sacral nerve stimulation and complementary/alternative options (such as acupuncture and gut hypnotherapy), among others – yet formal education in these areas is limited. It is hard for practicing gastroenterologists and surgeons to self-track all these advances and new therapies. The 30th Annual Medical and Surgical Gastroenterology Conference will provide a learning opportunity for participants in various GI disorders, including an assessment of new technologies, new diagnostic and therapeutic options for inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal disorders, hepatopancreaticobiliary disease and motility disorders.

Who Should AttendThis activity is intended for gastroenterologists, surgeons, internists, family practitioners, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other allied health professionals.

ObjectivesAfter attending this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to:• Identify and utilize the latest techniques for the management of esophageal disorders• Identify and utilize the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for the management of

inflammatory bowel disease• Review updates and changing practice paradigms in hepatopancreaticobiliary disease• Identify and utilize the latest techniques for management of gastroparesis and other motility

disorders• Review updates and changing practice patterns for the management of viral hepatitis.
