Carassauga history

The 2015 Festival offers an excellent opportunity for investment of marketing dollars. The Festival offers a wide range of sponsorship levels from Title Sponsor through to Community sponsors. There are sponsorship opportunities for everyone.

Carassauga Festival is an incorporated non-profit volunteer community organization that is now in its 30th consecutive year. This year's event takes place May 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2015.

In 2014 Carassauga hosted 30 Pavilions, representing 70 cultures, located in various cultural and recreation centres within the City of Mississauga. Pavilions included Africa, Brazil, Canada, Caribbean, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Hawaii, India, Indonesia, Italy, Iraq, Korea, Latin America, Lebanon, Macedonia, Malta, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine and Vietnam.

During the Festival weekend, guests visit multiple Pavilions. Once inside a Pavilion, guests are surrounded by the sights, sounds, tastes and aroma of the country in which they are visiting. Each Pavilion depicts the culture of the country of origin and provides a line-up of entertainment offered throughout the three days.

The Festival is an important annual event in Mississauga’s cultural and community calendar and its popularity has steadily increased in recent years. Last year 327,776 visits were recorded at the Festival an increase of 6% over 2013 and 4,451 artists, artisans and performers provided entertainment.

Carassauga is the largest multicultural Festival in Ontario and is now recognized as the second largest cultural Festival in Canada in terms of visits and ethnic diversity. Carassauga has been included in the Top 100 Festival Events of Ontario for the past seven years.

Ethnic marketing is increasingly becoming a major focus to businesses as the diversity in the community increases. Carassauga Festival of Cultures is all about ethnicities and presents a significant opportunity for companies to focus their marketing advertising and awareness of products and services that can be targeted to a diverse multicultural audience of Festival visitors.

The Passport is the most valued document for Festival visitors as it provides unlimited Pavilion entry during the Festival and contains key information about Pavilion locations including maps, and transit schedules and routes. During the Festival, Passport holders ride free with MiWay (Mississauga Tran-sit) by simply presenting their Passport. Passports are sold throughout GTA retail outlets, community centres, libraries and all Pavilions, commencing in March 2015.

A new sponsorship opportunity has emerged for the 2015 Carassauga Festival which will provide a platform for a company to take a community leadership position in goodwill marketing awareness to enhance their brand and audience perceptions of themselves.
