ENTERING THE CLASSROOM When you come up from the auditorium, stand in line

outside of the room quietly. Ms. Bowyer will let you in. Quietly unpack and neatly hang up your book bag. Turn in your homework to the bins as they are labeled. Have 2-3 pencils sharpened before class begins. Copy your assignments in your planner. Leave your

planner on your desk until the Planner-Checker has checked for accuracy.

If you finish early, please read a book. If you did not complete your homework, follow the No

Homework Procedures.

RESTROOM AND WATER BREAKS

Students are allowed to have water bottles at their desks throughout the day. There will be designated bathroom break times during snack and lunch.

Students may request to use the bathroom during lessons, but it is strongly discouraged. Students may be fined if this becomes a habit.

If you are requesting to go to the bathroom, please give the bathroom signal. Use the water signal to visit the water fountain.

Leave and re-enter the room silently.

LINING UP/WALKING THROUGH HALLS

Students will line up using CHAMPS Line up quietly. Remember “HALLS” Walk on the right side of the hallways and

stairwells. Use soft steps when traveling through school.

COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS

All assignments and objectives will be posted daily.

Copy this information into your planner at the start of every day.

Check off your assignments as you complete them and turn them in to your group bin.

Any unfinished assignments will need to be completed for homework if they are not completed by the end of the day. Failure to do so will have consequences.

TESTS AND QUIZZES

Follow CHAMPS procedure for assessments. Students will not be allowed to use the

bathroom during this time, except in cases of emergency.

If a student needs more time on a test, arrangements will be made.

85% mastery is expected on all assessments.

Raise your hand. Remain seated. Wait to be recognized. No voices until recognized.

SHARPENING A PENCIL

Students should sharpen 2-3 pencils at the beginning of the day. Another designated time will be during lunch.

If you need a pencil during a lesson, raise your hand. You may trade your dull pencil out for a sharpened one. If you do not have a pencil, you must purchase one using your classroom money.

EMERGENCY DRILLS (FIRE, TORNADO, ETC.)

Follow original line up and hallway procedures.

Follow the procedures that are posted near classroom exits.

Go to our designated emergency spot and remain in order.

Stand quietly. Do not return to the building until you are told to do so.

When we return to class, quickly and quietly go back to what you were doing.

SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION

When the teacher is conducting small group lessons, and the teacher is not with your group, you will have an independent assignment to work on.

If your group has permission to speak, you must do so in whispered voices.

Follow CHAMPS If you finish early, you may complete an

early finisher assignment.

WHOLE CLASS INSTRUCTION

LUNCH

Lunch will be eaten in the classroom. Before lunch, clear your desk of all of your

belongings. Follow procedures for students who may have food allergies.

Follow CHAMPS. Students will wipe off desks at the end of

lunch.

RECESS No screaming! There is no talking until we are outside of the building. Remain in line until you receive permission to play. Follow CHAMPS. Listen for the whistle. You will have a countdown to

line up. If you are not in line by the end of that countdown, you will be fined $50.

A student will be in charge of carrying the equipment, but all students will be responsible for keeping track of it and collecting it at the end of recess.

HANDLING DISAGREEMENTS AND OTHER ISSUES

If a student has a problem with another person, the first step is to respectfully talk it out with that person one-on-one.

If a resolution has not been made, then the teacher should be brought into the situation.

If a resolution has still not been made, parents, another teacher, and/or a director may need to get involved.

WORKING SNACK

Students will eat snack at the beginning of their math class. Follow procedures that your math teacher gives you.

All food and trash must be disposed of or stored in lunch boxes. No food in desks.

END OF THE DAY At the end of the day, students will clean their desks,

throw away trash, and tuck chairs in. If your group has cleaned up and followed directions, you will be allowed to participate in Group Bingo.

Make sure all classwork has been turned in before you leave. Unfinished work becomes homework. Make sure you have your homework folder!

No trash or food may be left in the desks or on the floor. Police officers will fine you if your desk is not neat.

Make sure that you have done your job before you leave for the day!

Silently line up when you are instructed to.

BEFORE YOU TURN IN YOUR PAPER

The first thing you do is always the same. You take out your pencil and you write your name.

Your paper must also include the date. If it is not a worksheet, you will need the subject and assignment.

Failure to head your paper properly will result in a $50 fine.

Self-assess your paper according to the chart. Make sure you have answered all of the

questions, followed directions, and used your neatest handwriting.

TURNING ASSIGNMENTS IN

All assignments (except tests and quizzes) will be turned in to the homework bins (homework), late bin if your assignment is late, or the group bin for all classwork.

For an assessment, put your paper in the top left-hand corner of your desk. Place your cover sheet on top of your paper. Complete an early finisher task that allows you to remain quiet. Ms. Bowyer will collect your papers.

GUEST TEACHERS/SPECIALS TEACHERS

Guest and Specials teachers are to be treated with the same dignity and respect as you would treat Ms. Bowyer.

ABSENCES/TARDIES

If you are tardy, enter the room quietly and bring your tardy slip to Ms. Bowyer. QUIETLY and QUICKLY join the class in the activity.

If you are absent, you will be dearly missed. When you return, check your desk for your assignments. It is your responsibility to make up any missed work. Ask Ms. Bowyer if you have any questions.

You have one day per day absent to make up your work.

NOTES TO MS. BOWYER/PERMISSION SLIPS/ETC. Please place notes to the teacher, permission slips,

field trip money, signed forms from your parents, etc., in the “Notes to the Teacher” bin on Ms. Bowyer’s desk as soon as possible.
