The donated items and shoeboxes will help to make a Romanian child from Hunedoara very happy this Christmas. Please pick up a leaflet in the foyer which tells you what to put in and who the appeal supports. Empty shoeboxes are also available from the foyer if needed. Why not host a shoebox making social with your small group and invite friends or colleagues to join in. Please bring your boxes back to church from now until the 11 November deadline. For more info contact:

In addition to sending the shoeboxes to Romania this year we would love to be able to respond to a very real need the mission team saw this summer. The children in one of the orphanages we visited in Hunedoara only get one nappy a day. This is in part due to nappies being around four times as expensive as in the UK. If you would like to help please bring your nappy donations in by 11th November. For more info contact:

8pm, Monday 12 November, Church Centre Scott Shalkowski (Department of Philosophy, University of Leeds) will lead a seminar on some contemporary atheist thinking, but moving away from the common focus on Richard Dawkins. The first of three seminars, this one will focus on some recent work by Daniel Dennett, a prolific contemporary philosopher. The goal is to better appreciate the force and substance of anti-religious thinking, as well as to explore useful responses to it. All welcome.

7.30am / 12.30pm / 7.30pm, Tuesday 6 November, St George’s Church We pray to build our relationships with God. We pray individually, and in groups. We pray to intercede for people we know, our city and the world. In 9 days time, we will be taking time out of our busy lives to pray as a whole church, throughout the day. In order to focus our prayers and to be reminded of the need to pray, we will also be fasting during daylight hours. We recommend you visit the website or read the information leaflet which will be available in the foyer from next Sunday to advise you on how to fast. If you have never fasted before, what better way to try it than with the support of your whole church? Please pray wherever you are on that Tuesday, and/or meet in church to pray together at one or more of the gatherings listed above. Please also take time to consider beforehand how best to make the most of your day.
