A Message of Support from Your Vinnies.

Dear All,

We really do hope that you are all feeling safe, secure, well, and not alone, in this time of lockdown. Times are uncertain, but being locked down together can be seen as an expression of every individual's support and care for everyone else in our community. That doesn't necessarily make it easier, and for some, these lock-down times will no doubt be harder. So, we just wanted to let you know that while we obviously can't make visits, and must have no personal contact, there are still things that we are able to do for you or for others whom you may know need help.

• Perhaps you, or someone you know, would like a phone call just to chat, or to know someone cares, or hear an

outside voice, or to gain confidence that someone will regularly check-in?

• Perhaps you, or someone you know, needs a food parcel? We can still deliver as we have contactless practices in place.

Please don't hesitate to contact us. All our members operate within the strictest privacy standards, are police vetted for your peace of mind, and genuinely want to help where they can. Contact details are: Holy Trinity Parish Office: 388-6953 or Andrew Bridgman 027 596 7665. We will then refer your need to one of our members most able to help as soon as possible.

Our thoughts, prayers and on-going gratitude are sincerely with you all, Your Holy Trinity Eastern Suburbs Vinnies Conference

Masses have been offered for Bernadette Hyland RIP, Margaret Guidera RIP

MARGARET GUIDERA RIP – passed away peacefully at her home after a long illness on Monday 30 August. She has been a

parishioner for many years ad her musical talents were abounding. Many students at St Patrick’s College in Kilbirnie were

taught music by Margaret. She was playing the piano at 8.30am Mass at Holy Cross right up until this current lockdown. We

are indebted to her wonderful ministry and faith. We extend our prayers and sympathy to Ralston, Alice, Ben and Hannah,

Jacob, Robert and Ziggy and all her family. Let us pray for all those who are unwell especially Msgr John Carde, Margaret Guidera, Malia Foliaki, Agnes Connolly, Lily Paese,

Jonathan Hunt, Warren Stevenson and John Cairns-Cowan and those recovering at home including Eddie Wilkins. And we pray for the

wonderful people who are caring for the everyday needs of the sick in our Community.

We also pray for the members of our Parish families who have died recently especially Margaret Guidera and those whose anniversaries

occur around this time including Barbara Ah Mu and Nola Foley.

THOUGHTS, PRAYERS & REFLECTIONS As we’re not able to safely go back into our church buildings, remember that we can pray any time or anywhere. Some people like to pray at the same time they would usually attend Mass. We can look on this as a special opportunity to take the time to pray for each other, our families, friends, and especially for those in any kind of need, including essential workers, who at this time place their own wellbeing at risk.

Mā Te Atua tātou katoa e manaaki – may God keep all of us in His care.

THE SEASON OF CREATION 2021 “living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience” (Laudato Si 217) We’re all encouraged to become involved and participate through prayer, sustainability projects or advocacy, even ‘though in these covid and lockdown times, our actions may initially need to be individual or only within our bubble.

Missing you – A prayer for grandparents and grandchildren Lord, I am missing their tiny hands in mine I miss their wrinkles and their smile I am missing their visits and our weekly walks I miss their voice and our face to face talks I am missing hearing all about their day I miss them showing me the way I am missing hugs and kisses I miss sharing fun and wishes I am missing tucking them in on sleepovers I miss story time snuggled under the covers I am missing joining our hands in prayer I miss just having them there I am missing seeing them grow I miss them sharing all the things they know I am missing the rites of passage that have passed I miss being them being with us at Mass I am missing the grandchildrens’ ring on the door bell I miss granny and grandad and hope they are well. I am missing their presence day and night, I miss my grandparents, my guiding light. Please bless my grandchildren, and keep them safe and sound. Please mind granny and grandad until we can have them around. AMEN Brenda Drumm

Prayer - Excerpts of a Christian prayer in union with creation Awaken our praise and thankfulness for every being that you have made. Give us the grace to feel profoundly joined to everything that is. Praise be to you! Whakamoemiti ki te atua! God of love, show us our place in this world as channels of your love for all the creatures of this earth, for not one of them is forgotten in your sight. Praise be to you! Whakamoemiti ki te atua! Enlighten those who possess power and money that they may avoid the sin of indifference, that they may love the common good, advance the weak, and care for this world in which we live. Praise be to you! Whakamoemiti ki te atua!

The poor and the earth are crying out. O Lord, seize us with your power and light, help us to protect all life, to prepare for a better future, for the coming of your Kingdom of justice, peace, love and beauty. Praise be to you! Whakamoemiti ki te atua
